Moto G8 Plus

Mrs CFH has one and it's superb for the money. Hugely recommended.

Just don't buy direct from Lenovo/Motorola. John Lewis or other reputable shop instead.

I asked this question a couple of weeks ago. Went with the Realme 6 and I'm more than happy with it. Camera is good, battery is excellent, storage is ok although I stuck an SD card in as well. The only thing I can think to gripe about is the adaptive brightness is a bit erratic. I've ended up turning it off. Other than that I was coming from a Samsung S9 and this doesn't feel like a downgrade in any way.

Bought a G8 Power yesterday, happy so far.  Thought about the G8 Plus for little more but the Power has Android 10 and a bigger battery.  I paid £220 but didn’t shop around, I needed it in a hurry.

My dad left his phone on top of his car, drove away and launched it into phone heaven.

He bought an Oppo A9 as a replacement. It was £200.

I have no idea if it's good, but something to look at?

You could always pick up something secondhand/reconditioned from MusicMagpie?

I need a new phone and was looking at the G8's the other day, no NFC on G8 power so thats out for me. G8+ seems to have an amazing camera and NFC so thats my front runner.

This^
I got a realMe 6 and this is my only gripe.

battery life is good and the fast charger is really fast! camera is great too.

mine came with a screen cover fitted and a jelly case in the box too.

Xiaomi note 9t or Poco X3 easily in that budget. The Xiaomi 10 is just over if you don't mind an import - it's brand spanking to the market.

Xiaomi Mi 10t Lite 5g 64gb here. Saw a deal on HotUKDeals for £174. It's amazing for the money - very happy.

G8 was shit. Technically very good on spec. Poorly executed with poor longevity.

First phone I've had to last less than a year.

I had a g4 and g6 before that I was very happy with

Got a ulefone armor 7e now.

Mrs Zips T10 lite is fab. Just a bit too heavy for a person like me who is on it constantly.

We both have a Moto G8 Power, great phones for the money.

I have had a few of the Moto G models over the years. We get ours from John Lewis as they have 2 years guarantee, the customer service is first class. I had one of my older phones repaired.

I'm not bothered about phones, I had my Moto G4 for 4 and half years before moving onto the G8 Power. The G4 just got too slow and sluggish.

Wife has recently got a Moto g8.
Very impressed. If it had a decent ip rating I would get one for myself

???? 😕 Perhaps because they are voicing their own experiences not yours?

Edit: My apologies, I've just noticed that this is an old thread which you revived with a seperate question. Ignore my bollox above and below! ☺️

I've been happy with my G7 power apart from a fragile screen. Whatever G* is around for £200 ish when it dies will be high on my list.

As I said above the G8 isn't a patch on the earlier g*

Moto G 5G Plus is in your budget. 5G is super quick, faster than wifi at home. The phone is top notch too.

I recently made the switch from iphone to Android. I wanted good battery life and ended up getting a G9 Power.

I'm not a heavy user but the battery life is, so far, amazing. Very happy with it although it is big.

There are a few 5G phones £200 to £300. There was a test on the gadget show a couple of weeks ago

Xiaomi usually has deals on the mi app. There is the 9t 4gb ram/64gb storage for £149 on the 23rd march and the poco X3 6gb/128gb for £169 (instead of £249) on today

Motorola g8 power here.

Everything is great, except the camera which is ok, and its big.

Batter life does 2 or 3 days where my previous iPhone was needing charged during the day.

Poco X3 is 169 today for the 128gb version. If you sign up to an account then refer another of your email addresses you get a voucher code for 15 quid further off, so 154 total delivered.

heard some mixed reviews of the G-series so i might break with a 5 year old tradition and save up a little bit more and get a OnePLus Nord.

Check out tech spurt on YouTube.
He reviews a lot of cheaper end phones and his banter is hilarious.

I recommended the g8 as it's a solid phone for just over £100.

Mi10t lite user here also. No major problems with it so far. Battery life seems a little suspect (compared to other phones i've owned) but that may be because i usually have the 5g on (in a non 5g area) and the 120hz screen. Weight of it means it doesn't play nicely with my gimbal but i rarely use the gimbal so not a deal breaker.

@retrorick you can change the screen refresh to 60hz and the battery last significantly longer.

👍 Grum. I'm enjoying the 120hz! Even tho I don't notice the difference! Same with the 5g, I can get 600mbps download speeds near Manchester but don't notice the difference in reality over 4g. The fast charging speed makes up for all the losses quickly.

I've got a realme 7 pro which I've been really pleased with, it was bought as a replacement to a Galaxy Note9 and I was expecting it to be a bit shit in comparison but in use I've not noticed much difference.

The main thing is the charging, it'll go from 0-100% in just over 30 minutes.
I never thought superfast charging would make much of a difference but I'll happily run this for nearly 2 days without charging then top it up from 5% whilst I have a shower or whatever, I don't bother charging it overnight.

Got the wife a redmi 9 for Xmas, was on offer for £80
Ridiculously good value, 4/64gb, battery last for ever, great screen, charges super quick

Only let down is camera which is just OK

I was a moto fan & I really miss the gestures I'm on a pixel 3a at the moment but would get xiaomi in a flash if my pixel died tomorrow

I've had a Moto G9 Play for 5 weeks now. Can't fault it. £130 from Giff Gaff.
Before that, I've had 2 Huaweis (P20 and P30 Smart iirc.), one got water damaged, both were decent phones, but the 2nd one had no Google apps, and although they say you can hack it, and get them installed, it doesnt really work properly with them, and there are a lot of apps that do not work without the Google integration.

Looking at all the non Motorola recommendations, NEED NFC/google pay, better camera than an old iPhone se (which is FAR better than the shit laggy camera on the G8 power, and gorilla glass as the screen in this is absolutely knackered after no rough treatment and a glass screen protector
