Got a couple of spare batteries for my phone.
Always keep one in my wallet for emergencies.
It says to charge for a minimum of 12 hours before use.
Can I give it 4 x 3 hour charges or does it all have to be in one hit?
As I now have STW induced battery paranoia I want to keep an eye on it.

Assuming it's a Li-Ion variant, it shouldn't really matter. You don't have the 'memory' issue you got with old Ni-Cads.

More important not to leave them discharged long term.

There are many theories on how to condition a battery for optimal health and capacity.

Personally i always charge a new battery overnight giving it a full charge, i then use the phone until almost flat before putting it on charge overnight again....repeat a few times and i'm then happy that the battery has been through a few decent cycles of charging and discharging which i genuinely think gives me optimal battery life.

My new Galaxy S2 is currently on 27% having been on the go for 2 days and 13 hours so far!
Push email is switched on, 3G enabled (i switch to wi-fi in the home), auto-sync switched on for app updates, auto brightness enabled, facebook open and live, whatsapp open and live, location settings enabled and a live weather widget on the home screen.

Not bad at all....and all done on the standard 1650 maH battery....i bought an official Samsung 2000 maH battery when i got the phone but in all honesty i dont think i'll need it.

Contrast this with my impatient other half who gets a new phone, puts it on charge for an hour....takes it off charge to fiddle with it....puts it on charge for an hour....takes it off charge as she needs to go out....lets the battery go flat....puts it back on charge....takes it off charge after a short time to phone somebody/go on facebook/send message etc etc....and ends up with terrible battery life from her phones.

Well, no, there aren't. There's facts, and there's anecdotes.
