website says temporarily unavailable.

I rarely update Apps on my phone, so no change there.

Major outage apparently: https://status.strava.com/

I'm going to give up cycling and take up knitting instead.

What's the knitting equivalent of Strava?

They also emailed about Live Segments working for all Starred Segments - so I messaged them to ask if that meant downhill segments were now working like the climbs, they came back saying that no downhill segments were included, so I suggested they amend the messaging as it was misleading (I was in a right grumpy mood about that for some reason!).

Having an existential crisis now. Am I at work? There's no commute on Strava, ergo it didn't happen. Where am I?

Can we filter out other people's Zwift rides yet?

Moved things arround to make way for new features?

Whooop, more stuff behind the paywall.

What the new app does fail to show is the "on this day last year" which it did in the old version.

This is a shame as I liked that.

It looks identical to before for me (apart from some enhancements to map views). Or am I missing something?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: why o why can't we quickly toggle between imperial and metric ffs.

Elevate for Strava T.A.F.K.A. Stravistix can do that for all but your own rides using "hide virtual rides."

You can also hide rides and runs under a specified distance.

I'm unpatiently waiting for Strava to...
remove segments with garbage elevation data which suggest a flat road has a mountain on it and/or is situated under sea level

remove segments that take considerably less than 60mins to complete rather than a blanket minimum distance of approx 0.25 miles

stop bringing up segments that simply meet the [length in metres x average gradient =>8000 for a cat4 for example] formula when searching for hills bigger than a specified category

give far better info on whether a segment is on a surface suitable for a road/hybrid/gravel/mtb etc.

But I'm a slave to premium for the power data, at least I got two months extra free this time by gifting a sub to myself.

Just a spinning circle for me and then an error message.

Which is still marginally better than scrolling through several pages worth of people joining inane challenges, then several more pages of Zwift squiggles...

On the subject of segments, has anyone worked out how to find segments that they know exist but which Segment Explore never seems to show? I wanted to star a few for Live Segment shits and giggles on my Garmin but it's amazing hard to find some segments even when you know they exist! 'Gaick Pass Northbound' is the first example that springs to mind. The search bar in the Segment explore page is possibly even worse than the forum search on here... 😉

https://www.doogal.co.uk/strava.php used to be great for finding segment details, I've not used it in a while though, so no idea how it fairs these days.

Nice, significantly better than Strava!

Although as a test I looked for the segment above and still couldn't find it, weird. I know it exists because it appears on an activity of mine (was quite proud of my time on it, hence the obsession 😎 )

Nope, it's just crap. Even worse at places like Swinley where I know there's at least one accurate segment for one of the trails, and 200 slight variations ranging from the pointless "Red15 ACCURATE May 15th 2016 diversion", which probably wasn't much of a diversion if it still close enough to count, to "knob head Dave crashed on the tabletop". I'd just like to see if I'm faster or slower on a consistent segment, not a PR every ride on a subtly different segment to last time!

Even if you know what the segment is probably called!

Strava segments need moderating. They are a flippin mess.

The only good way I've found of doing that is to do the ride, then find the correct segment in the segments list afterwards and star it there.

VeloViewer lists all the segments you've ridden and it's easily searchable.

Yep, that's what I've resorted to which in the scheme of things is no great hardship, just a shame they're not easier to search.

At least molgrips' link allows you to filter them better

D'oh! Of course it does, significantly better than Strava! Glad I'm still paying my £10 as I'd kind of stopped using Veloviewer now I have heatmap on Strava

D'oh, and after all that effort I find the segment I want to star and realise that it's actually classed as a descent (-0.2% gradient) so I don't think it will work on live segments! 🤣

Really annoying, isn't it? In a world of litigation, I guess Strava has decided to play scared and be 'safe'...

Have you ridden it before @13thfloormonk ? If so, can you manipulate the segment size to get a net uphill? If you used a barometer integrated GPS computer for the ride, it might be in your interest to look at how the elevation data varies between what your GPS recorded and what happens if you use the Strava elevation correction option.

I can't get excited about most off-road segments. The timings and routes/matching to segments is too inaccurate to have much value.

Eg. yesterday I took a downhill route that I hadn't taken before, a few direction options partway down, the one I took sort of fizzled out (due to lack of use I think) and was all overgrown. A bit of pushing through the undergrowth and eventually I ended back on a track (probably the one I shoulld have taken) and continued down. Looking at strava after the ride I'd been matched to a segment I never knew about. .Pretty much the only points my ride matched the segment was at the start and end points.

This is all too familiar with off-road segments.
