Welcome bagpuss72. May we safely assume you are a 39 year old fan of the sad old cloth cat, you live in Wigan and is looking to get into barks?
Welcome aboard. It looks like you'll fit in rart proper in these parts.
I'm a Salford lad so not too far away.
Tsk! Southerners eh? 🙄
Its a large steak pudding Fred.
Though the word steak is often used figuratively. And its not a 'pudding' in the traditional sense
All clear?
wrapped - like a baby is wrapped
I am guessing
erm yes what he said s my lack of meat eating has led me to ignorance on this issue 😳
DaRC_L - MemberLast timte I was in Lancs it took me a while to work out what batter pudding was on the menu...
as in Roast Beef, Batter Pudding, Roast potatoes
Its only pubs who hate Yorkshire that won't call them Yorkshire puddings bit daft really
Oh, a babbies head?
I get it now.
I have never been to Wigan. I understand there's a pier. Is it nice?
IT IS NOT DAFT TO HATE YORKSHIRE
REPENT
SINNNER
the pier is breathtaking and well worth the efoort there is a museum there and they do tours - you can get a canal boat [ electric] between the museums and past the amazing pier
Legendary for northern soul but I never went not being a northerm soul fan
It is not worth coming up to from London
I don't live in Wigan now I live amongst the pudding people....(the clues there is you look hard enough)
I don't hate Yorkshire and I won't bow to peer pressure even if you shout at me in capitals.... 😀

❓
A prediction!
I still don't get the chips/gravy thing.
Where do you put your ketchup?
Ketchup? On chips?
Get off my post.... 😈
Ketchup? What kind of animal are you?
You substitute it for mushy peas. Silly!
😳
I feel so naive.
mushy peas ,wet may mean gravy or with the juice from the peas wrapped to take out
Pea wet ("pey wet" to the more broad) is the juice from the peas, without the peas themselves.
The rest is a steak pudding, to go.
Goes well with a smack. A smack being a potato scallop to the more northerly challenged folk.
<lived just outside wigan for most of his life>
Ketchup? What kind of animal are you?You substitute it for mushy peas. Silly!
Mayo on sausage butties....?
If it's any consolation, pimpmaestro, I struggle with all these northernisms still. And I've been beyond the watford gap services for 15 years now.
However, given as I'm moving towards "wiggin" shortly, I've decided to try to expand my knowledge of loacal vernacular so that I don't find myself attacked with a cotton bobbin the minute I step foot in Lancashire.
I do wish these people would learn to speak with at least a little RP.
However, given as I'm moving towards "wiggin" shortly, I've decided to try to expand my knowledge of loacal vernacular so that I don't find myself knifed the minute I step foot in Lancashire
Where abouts? I lived in Hindley Green for 20 years (Dave Spikey even does jokes about it) actually thats not a good thing is it.....? 😳
(Dave Spikey even does jokes about it) actually thats not a good thing is it.....?
no but it paints a vivid picture of you 😉
Mayo on sausage butties....?
Sweet Jesus!!! You can't even put that down to being northern and quirky and charming and stuff. Thats just plain wrong!!!!
dave spikey lives in Chorley like what I do
Wiggin is in Manchester not Lancashire 🙄
Mayo on chips though the Dutch way helps if you smoke what they do first and you are quite hungry 😉
Post 69?
Junkyard - Memberdave spikey lives in Chorley like what I do

You try shouting that outside a pub in Hindley I'll take you to A&E after.
Chorleys nice I like the Ice-Cream place on the A6 reminds me of my grandad
Anyway I live in Bury not Wigan
What's all this blocked at 69 thing? Perhaps the moderator likes me stopping you all arguing and is encouraging you all being nice 😀
I think they thought it would descend into the usual nonsense everytime a female shows up on here. Don't worry about this lot thought they're all big softies really. 😀
Darren fer 10 years, Hindley Green for 20. Got it all going for you, eh. 😆
Welcome to the testosterone fuelled malestrom of STW.
MrSparkle - MemberDarren fer 10 years, Hindley Green for 20. Got it all going for you, eh
You missed Bolton for 8 years!!
And whoever it was said I was 39 I isn't I is 38 on the outside and 18 on the inside
I is 38 on the outside
In two places I hope 😉
Bury eh - even closer than I thought.
I see you meant black puddings - I was thinking Yorkshire puddings.
What a puddin'.
I have never EVER put Greater Manchester on my address at any of the places I hate it as do most of the people from Wigan Bolton & Bury.
The county is Lancashire....

I know its says some of them are now GM but we didn't go with it.... rebels
Where abouts?
Other side of the M6. Parbold way. It's as close as any person would want to get to the great metropolis of pies.
Last timte I was in Lancs it took me a while to work out what batter pudding was on the menu...
as in Roast Beef, Batter Pudding, Roast potatoes
I'm sure I've been asked by a girl in a bar to give her some batter pudding before now. Perhaps she didn't mean what I thought she did... 😯
I still don't get the chips/gravy thing.Where do you put your ketchup?
Or indeed the mayo... ❓
Blimey I spent some time in the Wiggan Tree before it became a 'counting chips chain pub' lovely area
Right better do some actual work..... 😳
The Wiggan Tree. Is that the pub on the road to Parbold with the great views over the skem plains?
Yes it is, its still good food but a bit 'full of families' on a weekend now mid week evenings in the summer are fab great views, good wine selection now sure about the ales
I shall be riding to Irlam via said 'ills a few times a week once we move.
There might be the odd occasion I stop off to test how the Wiggin Tree's gone downhill, etc.... before trying to set off the speed camera on my way down to Parbold.
Theres some good riding between Bury and Ramsbottom
and up around Nangreaves too
you'd possibly need someone to show you round
I think Harry the spider and terrahawk are from that area
Hello Debbie
before trying to set off the speed camera on my way down to Parbold.
It seems to work intermittantly. I can set it off reliably most of the time but as soon as I fit a camera to me it stays steadfastly off.
Derren, Hindley Green, Parbold, Ramsbottom, Nangreaves; please tell me these mystical places exist outside of the fevered imaginations of Northerners. 😯
Help me Believe.
Mayo on sausage butties....?Sweet Jesus!!! You can't even put that down to being northern and quirky and charming and stuff. Thats just plain wrong!!!!
This is true. It is Wrong.
