[Closed] New Durham Police chief - priorities?

I've a lot of time for Durham Police. They have a common sense approach to policing and their detection/prosecution figures would suggest that they're one of the most effective forces in the country.

The new Durham Police Chief Constable started this week and was just interviewed on BBC local news.

His main statement was about how no criminal would be safe but all the examples he gave were road traffic offences - speeding, no road tax, bald tyres.

Durham is known for it's sensible approach to road traffic policing - no fixed speed cameras, large motorcycle road traffic policing unit, warnings instead of instant fixed penalties when appropriate. They already have ANPR operations targeting no tax, insurance etc.

His other major point was about removing corrupt policemen and how many he'd sent to prison in his time. Hardly a great morale booster for his new team. All the Durham officers I know are decent hard working types who love taking down criminals.

Does he really think that these are the policing issues that bother people most within his county?

he's on local radio, he's hardly going to mention people trafficing, eastern european organised crime and chinese pot factories on housing estates is he?

corrupt officers? have the Met told him something from Op Wheeting?

he is also probably reguritating the policies of the proposective PCC for Durham anyway

or he's just an idiot ๐Ÿ˜‰
