c) Opera user so everything syncs across devices

And for IE/Firefox (backup browsers), I just import from Opera once that's installed.

I only really bother with bookmarks for sites I might forget and ones I rarely use, never for ones I use all the time.

e) chromium, so drag+drop the entire profile over (not just bookmarks)

although syncing to a new device usually is a trigger to do a complete tidy up and purge of all the rubbish

I think the only things I've got bookmarked on the phone are STW and Google.

I never bothered with bookmark sync. I'm sure it's great and all, but my needs are different on different machines. At home, I don't need all my work shortcuts, and vice versa. On my phone generally I'm not going to be spending hours surfing the net, I'll generally just fire up the browser to look something up.

A good chunk of what I would historically have used the web for whilst mobile is now catered for by apps. IMDB for finding out "what else has he been in?" when watching a film; weather forcast; Tube map; TV schedule; mapping / address finding; restaurant reviews etc etc all come from dedicated apps now.

None...bookmarking the sort of sites i'd want to bookmark would defeat the point of the private browsing feature.
