Anyone have experience of buying a new battery for iPhone 4S?
I want to get a genuine one, there are lots available, but I'm doubtful of the quality.
Fitting doesn't look too difficult.

IF you want a genuine one. Get Apple to do it.

Otherwise just buy a cheap eBay one. Just as likely to get a good one as paying lots.

Apple charge about £60. Plus the hassle of going to the shop etc...
I'd rather do it myself if I can get a good battery.
Guess I'll look at eBay and check the feedback before I buy.

You can't get a genuine one except from Apple. I bought one for my 4S for about £8 online with the tool kit. Changing it isn't too bad just a few fiddly screws and one little piece of metal on LHS of battery to take care of. Getting the back off is easy.

Yes new battery was much better, to be fair the old one was really dead so that wasn't hard ! I will try and dig out email from purchase but it was from Amazon from memory, feedback varied from 5 stars to 1 !

I've been impressed by appleipodparts in the past. Certainly not the cheapest, but the parts and tools are much better quality than the cheap stuff I've had.

I'm sure it genuinely is a replacement battery. 😉

Looked at appleipodpats, but they are out of stock.
Bought one from EBay, feedback looked ok so I'll give it a go and see what it's like and then report back.

Thanks for the info guys.

I have literally just finished fitting a new battery and dock connector to an iPhone 4S. I got the battery and toolset from Replace Base and I've just checked it and it's a brand new one so I can recommend them. A lot of the eBay and Amazon ones are sometimes second hand even though advertised as new. I used iBackupBot on the Mac to check the battery level on the phone.

I was charging my 3 yr old iPhone 4s 3 times a day; took it to Apple. They checked & the battery was FUBAR. Considered buying off eBay and DIY fitting, but it seems a lot of the 'genuine' apple batteries are refurbs or reclaims (from old phones), hence people complaining their 'new'batteries have 300 cycles on them already (have a look at some of the Amazon comments). As far as I'm aware no one supplies 'genuine' Apple batteries. Did't fancy sticking a chinese copy in my iPhone, though some people have had no problems.

So for £59 and 45 mins at the Apple store, I now have a iPhone that is lasting 2 days. Interestingly they offered me a 'new' replacement like for like iPhone for £149. This maybe because I buy my phones from Apple direct, contract free.
