Anyone know if the movie it was based on is on any of the streamers?
Movie is a bit of a stretch. It's a short mockumentary filmed on a basic video camera. It's very different to the series
Finished Mr Inbetween the other day.
Just tailed off a little bit in S3 (understandable since it was made in COVID times), but a decent ending which reminded me of Sopranos.

It's on youtube buddy.
Watched The Electric State on Netflix, a watchable bit of Sc-Fi nonesense. I know it's had some pretty poor reviews but it was watchable, nothing really new about it but it looked nice.
Christ, just watched the latest episode of The White Lotus. Walton Goggins' and Sam Rockwell's reunion is one for the ages.
Watched The Electric State on Netflix
I'm halfway through this, don't understand the hate so far. I like the alt-90s robo-apocalypse aesthetic.
Walter Presents: series 3 of Arctic Circle now available. Some bonkers drama namely RIP Henry along with Blackwater that features some weirdos in an alternative community. One that I thought was good was Fatal Crossing. The rest I've watched are more 'Cosy Noir', ie they're set in Scandinavia and are Evilside, Helsinki Crimes and Freezing Embrace. All watchable, if not dramatic.
Whilst peak-Scandi Noir has long since gone a different snowy landscape can be a welcome and refreshing change.
Couldn't settle on anything from the usual outlets, then found 'Gold Run' on BBC i-Player .Based on the true story of saving the entire Norwegian gold reserve during the German invasion,I thought it was a good watch. This was a new story to me, so sticking with an Norwegian theme, I am now re-watching 'The 12th Man' on Prime.

yeah I also got halfway through it last night. The aesthetic is similar to Fallout in some ways which I like plus Chris Pratt is always watchable, so enjoying it so far!

My kids liked it. It had robots, people, people in robot suits and some action stuff.
Just don't, whatever you do, overthink the plot. (a) there isn't really a plot and (b) what little there is is mostly pretty thinly stretched around some pretty big holes.
I watched Electric state the other day too, thought it was fun popcorn type movie and enjoyed the cast even if it didn't amaze with plot twists and intelligence.
Three pines for snow covered noir (although lacking Scandi).
Watched the Michael Sheen debt documentary last night which was interesting too.
In other news, Wheel of Time s3 is on Prime now.
It's far better than that crap LoTR spinoff thing (Elves vs Predators? I forget now), and has actual source material and everything.
Watched Sisu the other night. About nutjob Finnish ex commander taking on a group of nazis.
94% on rotten tomatoes.

We enjoyed Sisu, he makes John Rambo look like a Boy Scout! I was intrigued by him having a Bedlington terrier though.
The OH's out on Thursday, so all being well I'll settle in for a night with Sisu...
The only thing bugging me about Paradise is the (godawful) covers of 80s songs at the end of each episode. I already hate breathy/ faux sentimental covers of originally good songs, but these ones are genuinely terrible. I start clenching up towards the end of each episode wondering what awful thing my ears are going to be subjected to this time...
S5 of What we do in the shadows is available on iplayer, ep7 is brilliant

Yep. Say no more!
A special mention is also deserved for Parker Posey's southern mom pov on Buddhism.

Yes, that whole family is fantastic but Parker Posey just nails that crazy Texas mom.

nice, thanks for heads up
Your outie smells of elderberries and holds a position of authority.
Sisu. Despite being rubbish, it's utterly brilliant! Well shot & acted, it's just a bit OTT at times. (When I say a bit OTT, it's a bit OTT a LOT!)
Recommend!
It doesn't look like anyone has mentioned Dopethief, so now they have. With the guy from Atlanta. Really very very good. 3rd episode comes on Friday, Apple I think. And my outie and I are looking forward to it even more than than we are Severance.
Even though I liked Zero Day I did think it was drawn out. Probably didn’t help I watched it in one sitting.
I rewatched The Fall of the House of Usher and forgot how good it was.

If you have Disney+, it's also on there but in much higher quality video/audio formats (and available a few weeks earlier).

Disney have S6 now, iPLayer only just got S5.
Only one episode left to watch, sadly.
Some excellent acting in Operation Finale on Netflix

The Spy with Sacha Baron Cohen is very good, based on the true story of a Mossad agent in 1967 and the prelude to the six-day war. Not a trace of rude boy, Ali-G
I will have a look at that
Watched Sisu last night. Exactly as you'd expect, very fun, and only 90 minutes. Win.
Sisu is about 3 years old .. what's made it get a boost up the Netflix rankings all of a sudden?
Last One Laughing (Prime) won't appeal to all, but had me laughing last night. Bob Mortimer is particularly brilliant.

It's only just made it Netflix, at least here. For most of those 3 years it wasn't any streaming service that I could find
Inverse recommendation - The Borderlands movie just turned up on Prime and despite (or possibly because of) being a fan of the games, it is by far the worst thing I've seen in at least five years. Absolute slop, I managed about 20 minutes.

it’s a bit clunky, and DMC’s trying hard not to laugh face irritates me for some reason, but binged all available episodes last night.
Just finished the final ep of Severance, think the only answered question was the goats!
DMC’s trying hard not to laugh face i
Oh god, she’s a great actor, but not a comedian! That rollercoaster thing just had me frowning 🤨
Just watched Counterattack (Netflix).
Latin American, dubbed into English. Pretty basic stuff: good (Special Forces) guys vs evil (drug cartel) guys but well filmed and it's kept tightly paced. The final fight scene is a bit ridiculous, the standard good guy vs bad guy throw down their guns and face off man to man with predictable result. Other than that, 90 minutes of worthwhile watching.
Series, Resident Alien. Dark comedy about an Alien that's crash landed on Earth. Fairly good so far, 3 episodes in.
I read about Residence (Netflix) in the Guardian. Heard it praised on Adrian Chiles today. Last night and tonight I did 4 episodes (rare for me to be awake still at 9:30) and it's brilliant.
Residence is the White House one. There's another Resident in Netflix which is about a hospital. It wasn't that.

It's a Shondaland production, I'm out.
Binged all available episodes of Last One Laughing and we're loving it despite initially being skeptical for much of the first episode but then you just kind of get into it. Can't see how they'll break Richard & Lou but we'll see.
Started on Get Millie Black on C4 player last night, pretty good after 3 episodes.
Whoever recommended 1883 on the back of me liking American Primeval.. well thanks for the laugh! We’re forcing ourselves through about 3 or 4 eps, and its awful! The absolute icing on the cake was the “I’m sooo perty” girl playing Beethoven on an abandoned piano in a field! Incredible stuff 🤣 🤣
Just watched The Order on Amazon; FBI V erw militia folk. Very good
It may have been covered before, but Boy Swallows Universe (Netflix) has been a mix of harrowing and whimsical in almost equal measure. It has a dark storyline with some great characters and side story going on. There are some serious mullets too.
