Whilst the Sundance kid is locked in the bog can anyone suggest a decent Nerf gun package for a seven year old?

The strife is a good small battery powered one can testify to its ability to keep someone pinned down in the loo 😀

Does the loo not have a window?

Remember the first rule of being a dad with a lad. If the lad laughs and mum gives you one of 'those looks' then you have hit the right note 😀

@bregante - make sure you buy two guns - one for the lad and one for you. Next make sure it's a pump action one - battery powered ones require big batteries far too often. Finally buy lots of spare ammo. There are various sizes that appear to be Colour coded - they might look the same size but the wrong ones jam. My boys' preference is the cowboy style 6-shooter.

I had this idea for a lesson a while back. Calculate the kinetic energy of a nerf gun bullet. Asked a couple of kids to bring in guns. Next lesson, so did anyone bring in a nerf gun? 15 boys pulled out an armies worth of guns from their bags and opened fire. 15 girls meanwhile cowered in the corner as something like a scene from a Tarentino film played out in front of them!! Not sure anyone learnt much 🙂

yes the pump ones are better as they dont need batteries and the range is not much different - I assume no one here requires a 75 ft range for indoor use

IME battery ones only last a few hours and less with rechargable

smashed the loving room light

You probably didn't need a light in that room anyway.

Safety Glasses are a must with the dart tag ones with the Velcro end. Dear daughter took one in the eye within 5 mins if laddo opening it on Christmas Day a few years ago. My fault of course!

Cooling down now after an extended skirmish with the boys. Is 13 nerf weapons excessive between the 4 of us? Anyhow weapon of choice is the blue nerf strong arm with blue nerf bullets. Better go ice the Christmas cake now before the critters eat all the marzipan and we get in more trouble.

the daughter equivilant of this is me going home when i finish this shift, then being told i have to do the voice of ken and take barbie out on a date in her pink vw beetle... we'll then probably drive through the purple forrest rug, fly across the laminate conservatory sea and land in the playmobil shopping mall carpark for some shopping.

😆

I keep a Rapidstrike Assault Rifle by the side of my desk at all times as nerf war can break out at anytime in out house.. Oldest lad usually comes at me with a fully loaded hailfire and youngest has a couple of submachine nerfers with extended mags, they both come at me looking like mini rambo extras with fully laden ammo belts and extra mags at the ready.
Luckily I've got a stash of darts and magazines that they don't know about.. so i'm always loaded for bear.!! 😆

The Mrs informed me that we are getting a complete lasertag setup at christmas as she found the stuff for 75% off at ToysRus, blasters, capture the flag base, body armour, a bunch of other stuff.. Only 23 days to go, I can hardly contain myself.

I think you'll find the Firestrike is all you'll need. Single shot but pretty powerful and very accurate. ASDA are doing packs of blue darts for £3.67. 🙂

We had a slowly progressing Nerf arms race at work in my last job, which I basically ended by getting an N-Strike Stampede and modding it based on online tutorials from the Singapore Nerf combat community (seriously). I took out the air restrictor, replaced the batteries with special high-power-output cells, and upgraded the return spring. It could rapidly unload the contents of a 30-round magazine in a few (noisy) seconds, basically making it the AK47 of the arsenal we had...

Of course there was also the other guy who brought in a paintball pistol, which had to get effectively confiscated because it had genuine injury-causing potential. I did take to bringing a pair of clear safety glasses (my usual night-riding 'sunglasses') and having them to hand for whenever a skirmish broke out. Good times...

Because of this thread, I just picked up 3 Firestrikes (for my 2 adult brothers and my dad) and 2 Pink Crushes (for my mum and my brother's girlfriend) And some extra darts obviously. Oh and an alpha trooper for me, because **** everyone else. (I spent ages deliberating... Nerded out reading reviews on nerftrackworld)

I was totally planning to take out the air restrictor on mine til I shot myself in the leg with it and it bloody stang. Might save that for later. What brilliant toys though! I am so jealous of kids these days. Not even expensive.

So either christmas is going to be random hilarious death by foam, or everyone else in the house is going to look at me like I'm an overgrown child, because I am.

The lad got a Nerf pistol last year so I went on Amazon to get one too. Unfortunately for him the Retaliater was on special...
