At the end of the day it's a Skoda FFS.

What's the brand got to do with anything ?

That said, whats done is done stop stressing over it or you'll have a bloody heart attack. And stop posting on here and letting the middle classes wind you up with their different perspectives on your view.

You may have a point !!

It doesn't entirely. I mean if it was something s****y like a Beemer/Merc/Alfa etc. then I could sort of see your point. But a Skoda?!

What do you call a Skoda with a sunroof?

A skip!

Too on the nose, David.

I'd have thought this was beneath you, tbh. Low hanging fruit and all that.
Let me ask... You say about your rock climbing gear, although tatty still functions fine. If you were to lend it to someone and they broke a bit of kit would you be like "oh well" or would you expect them to replace it.

I lend my gear all the time and vice versa - it's what happens when you go climbing with people. I'm not sure I could even summon up enough energy to shrug at predictable wear and cosmetic "damage" due to use. Anything more than that would imply something catastrophic, in which case the gear would be the last thing I'm worried about.

Isn't the "joke" supposed to be that a convertible Skoda is a skip and a Skoda with all the windows open is a bottle bank?

What would be the point of a skip that only had a small opening in its top? How hard would it be to barrow hardcore into THAT skip? Very, that's how hard.

ah so we lent the car to the neighbour now - or are we just making odd comparisons

Car parked in the open vs physically lending equipmentto others to use.

This is one I'm not going to win so I'm bowing out and letting all of you carry on.

As you were....

Well Renton if you will post on here then you should expect the breadth of replies received. It has happened to me in the past.... all I wanted was a bit of love and sympathy and the combined forces of STW just didn't understand... You have to admit it has all been quite entertaining though and must have taken your mind off your rippled Skoda for a while!

Maybe a different way to look at this is how you would feel if your neighbour's car had fallen onto your bin. Lovely new damaged bin through no fault of your own. Neighbour replaces bin with slightly inferior version. Would you care? No. Car = stuff = bin = stuff.

I think if someone had done wanton damage to your car then you could quite rightly be p'ed off. But an accident.... oh well... these things happen. I just think the world would be a better place if there was a bit less 'car pride' around. But that's just me.

Not read most of thread but from initial post I see where your coming from OP.

I'm currently "cruising" around in my lads caste off mk2 Corsa. He's driving an Alfa.... But paying the financial cost of the honour too.

Is"only" a Corsa but it my Corsa and it's a good honest little motor. seeing a new dent in the door at Asda etc does rile me in all honestly.

Realistically I think it comes down to how much you want to risk souring relations with a neighbour. That's where things get tough. The Corsa got gently pranged by a neighbour returning from a late shift recently. Luckily just scratched the wing mirror. Was more miffed that the guy didn't let me know out of neighbourly courtesy. I know he pranged it as it set the alarm off and I checked the video footage the next morning.

Thing is, he's a good neighbour on the whole and that's not something I want to risk souring.

Anyway, yeah,I do see where your coming from renton.

All to predictable.

Renton, one of the reasons (not the only one by a long shot*) that these threads never go well for you is that you see it as a 'win or loose' situation. If you don't like people disagreeing with you, don't start the thread with a question, asking for their opinion.

* Other reasons include: asking daft questions in the first place; responding to people clearly taking the pee; and, expecting to be taken seriously with your history on here.

I’d be gutted if my car took a bin to the wing and it got dented. I genuinely feel your pain, OP.

But I also would expect to take a certain level of bantz if I posted about it on here.
