We will be in touch
The dance begins........again!
Anyone have a number that can get us through to someone who can cut a deal?
Ta....
I got the *by far* best deal by actually giving notice and then waiting for them to contact me. TBF, I had every intention of leaving for good but the offer was too good:
Bigger bundle
Maxit TV
Virgin TV 360 Box
M250 Fibre Broadband
Weekend chatter
Telephone Line Rental
All that for £29 a month fixed for 18 months on an 18 month contract.
Actually, in seriousness, if you don't need Virgin TV I can recommend an alternative broadband provider. Brsk probably cover your area and I can't give you a referral code because they're not allowed on STW so please don't DM me to ask or we might both save money.
No we don’t need the TV.
What speeds are you getting?

Apart from the Maxit TV, that's pretty much us.
They want £81 pm.
Cougs, messaged you.
I ordered 500Mbps at £33/month with the first 5 months free and no setup costs. Speedtest confirms that's what I'm getting.
Virgin before them was (post New Customers Only sign-up offers) around £100 for I think 350Mbps and a TV package I couldn't use through no fault of VM's. Honestly, I'd have paid good money just to get shut of their godawful 'hub,' even in modem mode it was a spiteful little prick of a thing.

Yeah that's kinda what I was offered so I told them I was leaving and it was a couple of weeks later that I got an email saying 'don't go' – I only had to click on the link to accept and it was all sorted. Doubly-pleased as it meant I didn't have to have my front lawn dug up (the new provider would have been on a different fibre network).

I haven't had any issues with mine (modem mode with a TP-Deco mesh system). If feeds a family of 4/5 very happily.
My woes are well documented elsewhere on STW, hashtag Don't Get Me Started. But even when it was finally working as a modem it'd still occasionally shit itself or otherwise need a reboot which took FOREVER.
If you'd asked me a year ago I'd have said "I can't really fault the service" because aside from the odd short outage the VM cable was fine. But Brsk have just been night and day better.
Jesus ****ing wept.
So, after cancelling with Virgin, they've fixed the ****ing internet speed, now 260 vs 22, which it has been for ages. Despite complaints.
Just signed with Plusnet.
Back to standard fibre rather than the Ultrafast for the time being, but should still be faster than what were getting from Virgin prior to The Miracle.
Hey Virgin, **** you!
I have quite a story I will recount later if I have time regarding Virgin haggling etc. Basically I got a £55 a month sub down to £23 for the next 18 months .. a few weeks ago . I was intending to use a technique that the Virgin engineers told me always works but didn't need to in the end . They did reveal themselves to be happy to lie and are well versed in manipulation but I won in the end without any changes except price.
As soon as community fibre (900meg, £29/month) became an option in our street we dropped Virgin - didn't have a tv box in the room we watch TV in most, and it was a waste of money.
They do phone you, took me three goes of telling the bloke I actually wanted to cancel rather than holding out for a better deal before he believed me.
The 150 number from your landline should work to talk to a human though,
Virgin didn't even phone me when I cancelled. Renewal was £75 a month for basic TV, phone with some calls, and 100 internet. I suspect their computer saw I had been with them since NTL and thought I wouldn't go through with leaving. My then package was available to new customers for about £30.
Quite happy with Vodaphone now. Only time I notice the reduced speed is when it takes a few seconds longer to download a film.
The offer from Virgin arrived 7 days after my new service went live with Zen and their kit was in the post back to them!
Like Cougar my hub was less than super in modem mode. A hub 3 with the rubbish chip set that used to hang regularly.
Every 18 months they almost triple my broadband package and then I call up, cancel, then the following morning they call up and offer for less than I paid the last time. Currently on 250mb for £24 a month which ends in November and will go up £57. The cancellation team can’t get anywhere near on their deals so don’t waste your time on the first call. Just say it’s too expensive and put in your notice
ps, ref the shocking router, my wife works from home and had 18 months of her laptop getting kicked off the internet, phones reverting to using data as they decided it was better than the Wi-Fi. Because of lots of parts of the house having no coverage i setup a google mesh system with the 3 pods and it’s never dropped below 250mb or kicked a device off the internet in 20 months. Basically router gets switched into modem mode only and then the google pods do all the wireless magic
Wish deals like that are available on non fibre optic.
Paying £24 a month for 70mb with Talk Talk. Can't get fibre optic here yet.
I pay £65 for 350M on virgin. I clearly didn't haggle hard enough when I renewed. Was £35 as a new customer.
Recently took out 25mb full fibre. The hub supplied, hub 3, was rubbish - I threatened to leave, began the cancellation process, in the hope of getting an upgraded hub. Nope!
Was really hard to speak to anyone without repeating the issues over and over, even texting the bots. So I flounced and left. They told me just to bin all the hardware, perhaps because it’s dated?
I threatened to leave which halved the price. The irony being that we can’t use any other provider because we are too far from the exchange ,1mile as the crow files,to get anything more that dial up speeds
