We will be in touch
Its the gf's 30th on Sunday and we have agreed that we will not really be doing anything as we are getting married in 3 weeks and need all the money for that. (Don't worry I have a nice evening out and meal planned)
But her main present is going to be an IOU a weekend away, I will be looking to do this in October, she has never been to Italy and would love to go, ideally Venice in her mind. Can anyone recommend good places to stay there, or any alternative Italian destinations that I could surprise her with.
Thanks
Steve
I went to lake Como a couple of years ago for a mate's wedding. It's absolutely stunning, you could just sit and look at it for hours (I did)
Another vote for Como. I absolutely loved it there.
Ice cream. Yum

Venice is obscenely expensive, especially around the square - think £10 for a coffee.
Lake garda`s stunning aswell
daughter works at lake garda all year ... im not jealous at all 😉
Venice is awesome. I took my missis there for a weekend break. It's only expensive if you eat and drink in the main square. The cheaper (and in my opinion, nicer) places are down the little side streets. We didn't spend a massive amount as the water bus ticket was cheap for the weekend and we spent most of our time just walking the alleys and admiring the views.
Shove it up her choc box, that will certainly surprise her!
Como is not cheap either. Nowhere in Italy is.
I do know a beautiful little village and B&B in a village on Como, however if you're interested.
If you don't think you can stretch to Venice (and I think you should - this is where she wants to go), then head to Northern Europe: Brugge (Bruges) is a good place for a weekend. Gent (Ghent) is also beautiful. Avoid Brussels at all costs.
No, save up and take her to Venice. The season shouldn't be quite as heavy going in October, so it could be more relaxing.
french tickler sir?
Bring her down to the Big Bike Bash next weekend. Only £10 for her to be a spectator
The food in Venice is very poor. By italian standards. Fact.
