At one point it would have been a new bike - but now it's New Bowls Day! 🤣 🤣

• Drakes Pride RX Crown Green Bowls
• 2-04
• Standard Density
• Brown with orange mounts

...they'll make the green come alive!! 😀

Apparently good quality/condition bowls are very easy to buy cheap at car boot sales.... Probably a bit too late for @the-muffin-man but may be of interest to others of a certain age 😉

My first two sets of bowls have been used, and seeing as I'm now Chairman of the bowls club (😎) - and know what works for me now - I thought I'd treat myself to a new pair!

A lot of the proper old woods are massive too and would probably need turning down to make the surface good again.

As for bowls and age - there are loads of younger players especially in the cities where they have a bigger catchment area.

Lots of clubs will be looking for new members over the coming months - and seriously if you haven't tried it give it a go. Crown Green bowls is best of course(!) and gets rather interesting when there are four matches being played at once.

I assume for the "Young Jibber" player, there is a MX version with different sized balls (!) 🙂

Has the winter attrition rate of existing members been particularly high this year?

My grandad had an ideal, bowling related death; dropped dead from a heart attack one sunny afternoon on Pateley bridge bowling green. Couldn't really ask for a better way to go, doing something he loved.
