Just got in and reading some of the threads here, notably the Amy Winehouse one...

Sorry Al, I'm a bit confused. Is this one of your threads where you're winding everyone up to be funny, or is it a serious one where you get all shirty at the "haterz" who don't agree with you?

Yes it is everyone is bleating on about how sorry they are about someone dying that they did not know. (feel like I am back in 1997)

It can't. She was a train wreck of a human being who could not be helped and wouldn't help herself. The ending was predictable and inevitable. She did nothing for me as a singer, I was indifferent to her as an artist, and her death is only significant to those close to her. Sadly there are those who see such people as romantic and idolise them. The reality is they are tragic losers who should be pitied not idolised. I'm waiting for Docherty to be the next one.
Before I get accused of being cynical and bitter, I'm not, there are artists who have died through accident or sudden natural causes who's loss I feel keenly, as their music touched me deeply and their sudden death's have robbed the world of genuinely creative talents much too soon through no fault of their own. Sandy Denny and Jeff Buckley being two examples.

Oh good, this gives me an opportunity to mention the idiot who couldn't compute what "On your left" means. His wife glanced round and stepped out of the way, he stood still, shuffled right, then took a step to the left as I reached him. Fortunately I'd slowed right down and only clipped him as I came to a stop. He may or may not have been speaking ill of the dead.

Idiot.

capt john - what? You clipped a walker 'cos he didn't get out of your way quickly enough and you think he is an idiot?

You're paraphrasing the situation you didn't witness in a way only you can, but what the hell: yes.

I've told you what happened. They (the idiot and his wife) seemed to think it was his fault and apologised over and over again.

Ah, I see.......he was an idiot because he thought it was his fault, when it was clearly your fault.

Yep, he sounds like an idiot to me.

Yues - you rode into the back of someone 'cos they wouldn't get out of your way fast enough and you think they are the idiot. Nice.

CaptJon,

I think you have also, assuming that everyone understands what "On your left" means and expecting them to get out of your way, think the idiot tag should be shared.

I could be jumping to conclusions, but does that mean we now have three arguments going on this thread?

More congratulations to the OP is in order I reckon.
