Saw this the other night. It's 50 minutes of pseudo-psychology followed by 5 mins of "getting them out". It's the full monty but to be honest it ain't much to write home about.

Watch Masterchef instead. That's where it is for the 2009 season.

'Why would someone this screwed up agree to be on tv?'

Wow MIKETUALLY - is that in your 'professional' opinion??? I guess you must be completely secure in yourself that you have never thought you had no other option but to try something radical?

Ever dawned on you that these people may be so fed up of how they feel about themselves, have tried therapy, or be unable to afford it, and see an advert for a confidence building programme and sign up?? If you watched it you'll see they only find out it is a naked theme show once they are on it and contracts are signed.

How about you don't judge people when all you know about their lives is a brief flick of their name and some small detail about them. They didn't go on this programme to tell you their story, they went on it to help themselves and doing it in public was just part of the deal to getting help.

Give people a break.

That's my opinion; I made no claims to be a professional, but if I recall they were crying about how they hate themselves, so it wasn't a huge leap to think they were screwed up... I'd rather that we didn't use screwed up people to create trashy one hour TV "documentaries" so that people could get a bit of a thrill at seeing someone's tits.

If you watched it you'll see they only find out it is a naked theme show once they are on it and contracts are signed.

They'll have been given a list of possibilities, one of which was the naked stuff. No way was that suddenly sprung on them.

MissGulliver seems to have created this account just to post here on this post.

As it was 4 days after the thread 'died', it's unlikely to be a regular poster creating an anonymous account to resond to this thread.

The thread is in the top ten on Google now for "naked estate agent", so my guess is it's one of the people who appeared on the show who's been Googling it.

Am I right?

Found a MissG on another forum. That either means it's someone searching the web to defend themselves, or it's time for me to go to bed.

MissGulliver, I hope you sort out whatever issues you have. Good luck.

Does everyone here just want to be mean to people?

My issues are people slagging people off without knowing them.

My sister was on the show, yes. Congrats on the detective work.

No, they didn't get a list of possibilities or anything else actually.

MissGulliver - Its potentially a fruitless task scouring the internet putting people right. I too have just looked up the last 5 mins on Iplayer 😳 only to have to switch it off (and i like naked women). This is all a little degrading rather than empowering don't you think?

Its case and point that most people who heard about this probably skipped right to the end to see a bit of boob.

Good luck with the issues etc...

MTT - I agree with you. I agree it's degrading. I agree it's not empowering.

I am just trying to say they didn't know til they were on it, would you rather look a fool doing it or a fool walking off the show? either way, people on forums will slag you off.

I like parts of the show, the psychology and therapy, in fact I have got someone I know to watch it who is having self-esteem issues, to show her that people who look good can still have issues with themselves.

BUT, I see no need for them to get naked, surely it's not normal for anyone to want to strip off in public, self-confident or not, I really dont see the link, apart from trying to get more ratings.

So, seeing as you don't work on the show, how come you just "happened" across STW and other fora to spout your waffle?

Face it, it's car crash, exploitative TV of the very worst, based only on the fact that pre-prubescent boys get to see some baps.

This is a local forum, for local people...

MissGulliver; not wishing to be unkind, and I'm sure you may be a lovely person in real life, but I find it a bit odd, that you've gone to the trouble of logging onto a forum like this, to argue with this lot. Trust me, they're not worth the hassle. They're always wrong, and their opinions are irrelevant.

Don't stress about it. Ignore them.

And whatever your sister's going through, the truth is, most of this lot wouldn't want to see her or anyone suffer, really. Just a lot of big egos and hot air.

Sorry, that I don't believe.

All those girls were above average intelligence, and no matter their "personal" problems, if they felt they were unhappy with revealing all, they should have said so. Furthermore any tabloid would have been overjoyed with the offer of a "TV company blackmailed me in to getting my kit off program".

Get Real.

Looks like the bandwagon is being jumped on, and I wonder what percentage actually saw the programme. Garbage tv or not, it's your opinion. Doesn't mean you are always right. That is what forums are for, people to express opinions and for others to challenge them. Looks like some people can't handle theirs being challenged, their only answer being to start being personal. Nice.

I haven't said anything nasty.

I watched the program this morning, I don't understand how one is supposed to prove to themselves that they are "over it" by getting their kit off on TV though?

Richpips - I completely agree, again, I will say that it does not and did not fix things for those participants. The only thing I have tried to promote is that 70% of the people on the programme went on it to really try and help their own self esteem.

MTT - I appreciate your clarification, as FAUXFURFOUR sounds like a school-yard bully with that comment.

Ooh, interesting, I saw this thread a few days ago & went to Iplayer to see it, TBH after 2 minutes I was bored & forwarded the the T&F, now don't get me wrong, I like T&F, but the web can give you so much better, next time I'll stick to the dedicated sites 😉

Seriously its degrading to your own intelligence to believe it was anything other than a rating grabber, & why do all the men have to appear to be g@y?

And I really don't believe anyone was forced to go naked, I'm sure they couldn't contract you to it without prior knowledge.

RICHPIPS - Lol, that maybe. Bet it didn't work though!

2unfit2ride - the production companies can contract you to participate and to give them full filming rights. They start filming then tell you what's going on, as shown on the prog, then if you want to leave, they show that bit too.

Ah so they could have left after all then.

Well they chose to go on the show for what ever reasons, then they get their glory out for all the world to see which to me isn't a big deal getting naked. It provided entertainment for it's target audience, caused a debate on here and some teenagers probably cracked one off to it. Everyone's a winner then.

I "watched" the first half, then turned over, because I didn't want to watch people with issues being exploited for entertainment. I expressed my opinion of the programme on here, because that's what people do when watching TV. They also make judgements about the people on TV, based on what is shown. If you can't handle that, can I suggest now searching out people talking about it?

I hope your sister sorts out whatever issues she has that she felt were best dealt with by going on TV. If she truly didn't know about the naked part before the filming started, then the whole thing is even sleazier than I thought: "Hey, let's get a load of women with serious issues and then coerce them into taking their clothes off".

I'm not sure what your point is generally.

Are you saying we're bad people for talking about something we saw on TV? Are you saying the production company were in the wrong for exploiting these people? Are you saying that being watched is very important, so you should never walk out on a TV programme?

No you are completely wrong on all counts and I don't know where you got those from.

No I didn't say you're bad people. I said some people were just being mean for the sake of it.

I am saying it shouldn't have had a naked end challenge, that wasn't fair.

No, I think if you want to walk out you should. I said some people don't have even less confidence to walk out than to do what they are being asked to do.

They weren't allowed contact, but would have told her it wasn't a necessary move to get naked.

I don't know, I may have felt like I couldn't walk as I am not that good at saying no to people in authority.

She was told it would be a psychological week, with therapy and physical challenges that most people would be scared of. They wouldn't confirm what but the ideas were parachute jumps etc.

SCREWED UP

All of those people, like some/most of us on here and everyone else have some "issues".

The reality is they are normal people who the TV and papers have persuaded that it's some big thing.

I'll survive though. I might write "being challenged" on a door and smash it up, before walking naked down the high street.

I like being challenged, otherwise I probably wouldn't post here 🙂

Incidentally, I believe they're currently exploiting some office workers on BBC3 right now.
