How can I delete a job that won't delete?
Windows 7, wireless network printer operating via web services, accessible via http from my browser so not a network issue.
Unfortunately, you need to reboot - always seems to clear the print queue for me! 🙂
Anyone?
Restart print spooler service often clears spooled jobs
Oh I like that idea...
That worked a treat. Restarted and my doc came straight out.
£50 please! 😉
Now my printer's working I'll print one out for you.
(cheers btw)
Most welcome!

Delete the print job first. Then, quickest way is from the command line.
net stop spooler
net start spooler
It's actually more reliable than a reboot; rebooting will sometimes queue the file and resend it.

Or, to put it another way, you turned it off and turned it back on again.

Never had a problem with just a reboot, although obviously I knew about the service stop/start 8)
Restarted the service I mean. I think I had rebooted the PC before.
The zombie job has now gone, and further jobs have worked. I even printed on some envelopes without issue! OMFG!

Depends how much of it on the PC and how much is in the printer's buffer, I expect. If Windows thinks it's 'gone' then it'll clean up, if not it'll resubmit, AFAIK.

Have you ever tried scanning and printing bank notes? - something interesting happens 🙂

I always cancel the job on the printer (try to) - I suppose that giving this information would probably have helped! 😳

Go on, what? Some kid in the USA managed to fool people for a while like that apparently.
We needed some dollars as props for a film, in hindsight it probably would have been easier to get some cash changed but we were out in the sticks a bit and strapped for time. We didn't need master forgeries just some roughly right looking top sheets for bundles of newsprint. Our graphic designer was half way through printing the first sheet when the printer stopped printing the image and started printing a message from the FBI pretty much saying- 'stop what you are doing - we need to talk about this'. There is software in scanners and printers that can recognise banknotes and will shop you to the feds.

Never seen this what happen yet.
On photocopiers banknotes are mapped (the yellow lines) and if they are reproduced the engine produces a 100% magenta image, which makes copying maps fun.
All outputs from colour copiers(and I guess printers)are marked with a yellow dot pattern and can be traced back.
