Too late, I fear.
I have few mates who understand the drama and joy of watching test cricket. Go about your Sunday but always have it on somewhere in the background and it makes for awesome sport. Even did the dinner washing up watching it on my phone. Bloody great day!
Breaking - Smith out of the third test.
Whilst that is going to make England's job a lot (potentially - depending on how Labuschagne plays) easier it's a real shame. You want both teams at full strength. It's like when McGrath tripped on a ball and we made hay - does not feel quite the same when you win in those circumstances.
It does make letting him go back out to bat looking even more daft a decision.
While it's good from a winning perspective I would like to have seen how he coped with Jofra on what's been called the fastest pitch in England. We should see a decent win here if some of the batsmen can wake up.

Don't get too carried away with the Jofra effect. Yes, he is capable of bowling a ball at 96mph, but Starc has hit 95mph himself, Cummins can bowl 90+ as can Pattinson. Hazlewood is also a match for every other available England bowler in purely pace terms.
Wickets that favour extreme pace are not to England's advantage as we only have one truly express bowler, they have three.
Morning all. A bit of rain at Headingley, toss delayed
Doesn't look like there will be anything before lunch.
RM.
Afternoon, my dear old things!
tuned in on youtube live from Sweden. Will sound the warning klaxon if I hear Boycott is entering the studio
Big decision to put them in! Shades of Edgbaston 2005?
well , one down, although i thought it would be Warner!
Warner’s going big today, I reckon.
There should be a TMS rule that Boycott is only allowed to be on the radio during rain delays if Aggers is on too to keep him in check. This is excruciating.
edit - scratch that. Just get him gone.
Stick o' rooooobarb!
brilliant I missed him!
another hopeless umpiring decision.
Stick o’ rooooobarb!
they quietly had to stop boycott bingo, it was like mocking the afflicted! they need to get shot, sky can keep him but most people have the sound turned down and listen to tms.
it's almost cruel on Warner. oh wait i hate him. Carry on
looks like the Aussies have got lucky here, with rain and bad light.
In the same conditions England would be 7 or 8 down.
Well hello!
Struck amidships...
Tim Paine thinks about two but Marnus Labuschagne sends him back. A quick run is not what that man needs right now. Walking like John Wayne.
Yep, certainly caught him square. The camera angle from the stumps was particularly wince-inducing! This is turning into a decent evenings work after some dross earlier.
RM.
5 fer!
never mind that weird dismissal, we'd better get on and win this one - I reckon Labuschagne and Smith might bat for 3 straight days

That'll do.
6 fer!
Superb
And no fannying about in the morning!
Where’s Aggers disappeared to?
Fingers crossed we can make hay tomorrow! Having passed on tickets for days 4/5 of this test I’ll be happy to see a 3 day test with us winning with an innings to spare.
RM.
Bat all day and post 400 plus please! Amusing when TP get hit hard on his personal mid stump
"if England are willing to do the discplined stuff this morning...." ah.
Ah, indeed.
Roy just isn't up to it as an opener.
Urgh
.... awful...
Ffs
I despair.
Jeez I’m going to the pub
Just swore loudly on a park bench. Follow on target must be around 75?
They’ve avoided the follow on (according to a comment on the bbc feed)
We avoided it before we started batting.
RM.
a yes true that. had my mind on shorter formats of the game. much like the England test team BOOM BOOM!
Ha! If it is any consolation, Stokes, Buttler and Bairstow all average 40+ at this ground in tests?
RM.
Calypso collapso
That ticket I've got for Sunday looks like a poor investment now. I don't know what to wish for - get this over with by the end of tomorrow so I don't go at all, or pray that both teams remember that they aren't playing in the Big Bash......
This is embarrassing now.
All out by lunchtime?
The Stokes shot sounds like a howler. Stokes is the guy who has sown most flexibility in his batting approach over the last couple of year too - but, pressure and all that....
You can't score runs in the shed FFS!

Make it stop.
PLEASE!
Now is the time for Butler to score some runs...please...!
This rabble don't deserve to win the Ashes. If we can't beat Australia without their best player by far....
Thats it. I am in hiding. Mrs TJ is going to be in such a bad mood! Help me.
Thinking positively - better now than chasing a low total to win in the fourth innings.....?
That’s another pint
Towel has been thrown in.
🤯
That'll be that then. 67 all out. Hmm.
Perhaps this is what’s needed to make the selectors and coaching staff realise that test matches are not T20?
Shocking stats
they have to find a proper captain.
There really was some bolox being written last night by 'experts' saying England were going to win the ashes now.
What a shower, all that good work undone.
Sweep on the Aussie 2nd Innings score anyone?
RM.
I think Aussies will bat and bat and bat to rub it in. 500 odd and bowl England out for 100 second dig.
That many?!! (England’s 100 of course)
Ooh...
Morgan for captain?
Well...
I turned on the radio just over an hour ago expecting to hear England passing Australias score for the loss of a couple of wickets.
I was scratching my head wondering why England were bowling. I thought I was listening to highlights of another test.
It must be demoralising for Englands bowlers who did well yesterday, particularly Archer.

Which is why Australia's game plan now should be to bat until they've got as many as they can - really grind the England bowlers into the dust. It doesn't look like they'll manage that now - but they will still have enough to win the game unless England find a magic spell from someone.
Geoffrey doing a Geoffrey.
And there goes Archer
Morgan for captain?
His back can barely last an ODI and he's no spring chicken so it'll never happen.
It would be good to have a *proper* captain rather than do it football style and just give the "best" player the title. The problem (as it was before Root was appointed) is a lack of candidates. Who are the strong leaders who can not only be a tactical mastermind on the field but also whip the ECB in to shape and handle the off field more political stuff and put a long term plan in place like Morgan appears to have done for the ODI side?
Good thinking from Denly, nice to see the classic village cricket tactic of ‘old-manning’ get a run out in a Test. Maybe Jofra could do it, just hobble slowly enough to lull the batsmen into a second and then laser it in over the bails.
All out for 50?
