Run out with the aid of a glancing blow to Steve Smith's nuts. Does it get any better?

Mitchell Starc could be a tad intimidating on this wicket, I think.

England currently thrashing the old enemy in a World Cup semi-final with their best 1 day team ever in a stadium full of empty seats and most of the country don't even know it's happening. :-/

I'm English, I can always find the negatives!

That's 50 for Roy. Unfortunately rain approaching, raintoday.co.uk shows a band coming in from the west.

ESPNcricinfo's win predictor is at 99.61% apparently. I'm starting to think we might be in with a chance here...

They have done before and they will do again. Never, ever underestimate the ability of the English cricket team to shoot themselves in the foot.

Cracking day, so glad I was there, awesome atmosphere and now I have a very sore throat! Hope Archer, Roy and Bairstow manage their injuries and get through Sunday. The match will be on free to air TV

That was outstanding! Utterly brilliant performance and entertainment, especially so when handing the Aussies their arses on a platter 😁

Out of interest, that Carey fella looks quite handy with the bat and behind the stumps, will their test squad feature him? If so, what will Paine do?

I was there too houns

Australia absolutely put to the sword by a ruthless England, buoyed by their performances againt India and NZ that kept them in the tournament. Aussies were on a downer after losing to South Africa, and on a bogey pitch for them (Edgbaston has traditionally been kind to England in times of need).

To go out chasing 4.4 an over and polish it off at more than 7 an over just hammers home what this England team can achieve when they believe in themselves!

Nothing is a foregone conclusion (take NZ vs India yesterday!) but I do think that NZ will need to bat first and set a huge score to stop England in the final... Even then, England have proven they have it in them to chase it down too.

FWIW Bairstow and Roy looked in incredible form today, until JB pulled up with a Hamstring issue. From that point he struggled, and he should not have reviewed that decision (I think he thought he hit it). Roy looked imperious! Poetry in motion with the bat, and it was a massive shame to lose him to such ridiculous circumstances. The only way to stop Root scoring a 50 seems to be to make sure there isn’t enough runs left to chase (high and dry on 49 today!) and even captain inconsistency managed to hit a few today...

Anyone got a spare ticket for the final?!?!

What a great way to set-up the first test at Edgbaston; will be there for first two days. Could be start of new era - Cook retired, Jimmy and Broady coming towards the end, lots of one day big hitters with potential but unproven in the long format.
Interesting, very interesting - thanks Barry Davies.

I used to do anxiety really well, so well in fact, that even since giving up the addictive behaviour I still get the occasional bout, albeit short lived. I am dealing with one right now... and they all start with the ‘what-if?’

What if England have peaked too early?????!! Do you see my dilemma?! 🤪

Supplies got in record time, I’m not budging now. 50:50 split on the radio whether to bowl or bat first, I’m still saying bowl

I think I’d have bowled, it may well swing early and England have done a lot of good work chasing. Good toss to lose.

Watching cricket on free to air telly! 😁😁😁

My only mild grumble is the time delay between the picture arriving and TMS already having described the delivery. I much prefer the TMS commentary.

Does Jofra always bowl slightly short of a length? Someone needs to have a word with him, he’d be devastating if he pitched it up a bit

No, everyone saying he needs to pitch it up a bit.
The delay was annoying at the game on Thursday, was at least a ball behind the live action.... At least it gives you chance to hear what happened then look at screen to watch it, you won’t miss anything

England are drifting a bit now, and that is dangerous with Williamson around and accumulating. With the amount of movement I think England should have two or three wickets on the board by now......

Gah, just taken Rashid for more than a run a ball with limited risk. I don’t want England to have to chase more than about 240 on a sporty wicket...
