6-22 and on both boards at Lord's.
Superb.
Wow, what a spell by Stokes. He just did that in 14.3 overs unchanged (OK so there was a tea break, but I think it still counts). He's certainly a game changer whatever he's doing - and now statistically an all-rounder.
499...
Not any more - Bishoo now has 503 runs.
the team is full of all rounders now all they need is more than one opening batter
I guess Stoneman doesn't like Australia.
I was going to select Woakes at 3 when he's properly fit, but maybe I should promote him? Could always select Rashid at 3 instead. I suppose that still leaves the awkward number 5 slot - though Samit Patel is looking on good form at the moment. Or do you think 3 spin bowlers is enough to go along with the 5 seamers? I suppose Cook and Root could always turn their arms if needed. Does Bairstow deserve his place when he doesn't bowl?
I'm guessing the windies batsmen minds might have been elsewhere 😯
Went out for a ride a missed 8 wickets!
England's reply ain't looking too good so far....
Normal service has resumed.
What an excellent day's cricket!
3 day test then. Less Blowers 🙁
I think he was drunk by 3pm "the lady In the white trousers" 😀
Great days cricket
He was rather taken by her trousers, wasn't he?
😆
Never worn a tee shirt in his life he will be missed
not much play today then...?
It feels to me like one of those days where there will be a bit of play in the morning and then enough in the evening to ensure no refunds are due! Should be going, but struggling to get going at the moment.
Urgh.
Remember all the pre-series talk about it being a waste of time as England wouldn't learn anything by playing this very very poor WI side?
They're currently in danger of being bowled out for less than 100.
They're currently in danger of being bowled out for less than 100.
They are, but the conditions haven't been kind - and that was the outcome of the toss. Fingers crossed for no more play today as it is meant to be a much better batting day tomorrow. If there is more play today I see us being bowled out then WI having the pick of the weather to bang in reasonable total tomorrow.
and we are off and dropped first ball then a boundary
Not saying a word.
Looks like Stokes could beat the Aussies on his own.
Ooh look!
A pigeon.

Such views weren't wrong based on the evidence from the first test!
That sounded close!
bowled twice in an over!
Still Stokes must be Mof the Match unless Jimmy gets a 10 for
That was closer 🙁
slog tastic
Broad is actually batting!
38 off 43 - not at all bad. It is years since he has done this. I recall a few years ago he spent a summer doing this.
Ohhh FFS
Still, at COP yesterday I'd have taken a 71 run lead.
Nicely balanced game here!
Couple of wickets before the close for England might tip the balance.
The difference is the low WI run rate - they actually batted more overs than England did. It seems to be similar conditions and standards of bowling, so WI just failed to keep the scoreboard ticking over in the way England have (OK slogfest at the end, but the England run rate has been better all through the innings).
Couple of wickets before the close for England might tip the balance.
a couple?
they'll be looking to finish the match tonight won't they?
*APPLAUSE*
Bravo, Jimmy!
*ripples*
HOPEless LOLZ ROFLCOPTER IGMC
that's not gone so well for me.
Arrived about 1015 for a coffee and a walk around. Seats in time to see the covers go back on. Then a delayed start at 1115, one cracking cover drive from Malan and then a belting ball to get him out. 4.2 overs and then persistent rain. At the point the forecast was for rain set in, and with puddles sat on the outfield I called it a day and spent the rest of my day off on a spot of shopping (Uniqlo selvedge denim) and a trip to the Imperial war Museum (never been).
Called that wrong then..... but still had a nice day (well, if you count the somewhat harrowing holocaust exhibition at IWM as 'nice')
The ball Anderson bowled to get Powell!
Quite literally.......WTF 😯 😯 😯 😯
You could replicate that ball twenty times over and it is unlikely it would be anything other than out.
You miss, I hit. And there's a big chance of you missing because I'm goosing it all over the place.
Oh! Jimmy! Jimmy! 7-42 career best 😀
A Michelle and spares for Jimmy.
He's having rather a good test!
107 runs max of Henry left
Runs flowing.
Over before tea?
More time for cake.....
cracking on at 7 an over
1 down
The final commentary stint from @blowersh on @bbctms will start at 3.40. Don't miss history. #byebyeblowers
I've had to pull over in car for his last stint, quite dusty in my car
Thanks my dear old thing
Missing his last stint as we have guests, I don't think they'd understand if I put it on
Thanks for the heads up - caught the last bit.
(In relation to the posh accent thread, the juxtaposition of blowers and tuffers at the hand over was marked - you decide in what manner;-) )
Oops - had him on, but switched to the Vuelta so missed the last bit. Though I suppose as the TV box is still tuned in to TMS and I switched the TV to the XBox to watch cycling I can rewind...
Ahh Blowers. Thanks for the memories. He will be sorely missed from TMS and I will remember him fondly. A true true legend of broadcasting who never failed to brighten my day no matter how England were playing.
it is available on the R4 website, from about 5:40 onwards for his last stint but worth listening a bit earlier for other stories about him
Top entertainer.

Congratulations Essex, great statistic - first time they have won it without Gooch in the side.
Walloooooooopppp!
Gayle may be exciting, but he's a sodding lazy sod between the wickets.
Lazily strolling rather than defending his wicket.
"I didn't think Evin was coming, so I ball-watched a bit. I jogged and I was a bit surprised he threw at that end. I thought about a dive but I didn't want to get my clothes dirty."
Quality!
Oops
Complete the following sentence;
Jason Roy is as much use as....
He's either genius..or absolute toilet.
So, a day/night game.
In Manchester.
At the end of September.
Rain inevitable, shirley!
According to our man 'oop North's FB feed, it looks like Manchester is having its annual day of blue skies today
42 overs a side. 1430 start possibly...
WI wobble.....
Moeen SMASH!
And then takes the catch to win the game.
50 to 100 in 12 balls, ouch.
50 to 100 in 12 balls, ouch.
When your innings puts Gayle in the shade, you know it's been a good one!
Also, nice touch from WI wearing black armbands in honour of the devastation caused the recent hurricanes.
I lucked out as i listened to that and it was tremendous something like 7 sixes and 2 fours in 11 balls after 32 iirc
Moeen is an elegant batsman, in the mould of a Gower. Not just a bish-bash-bosh merchant, but lovely stroke play, supple wrists and well, he's just lovely to watch!

Cheers for that not seen itHe is a wonderful batter never mind his bowling and at the minute england are blessed with a number of genuine match winners with bat and ball and also some seriously talented all rounders.
If they could have two opening batsmen then they would be close to un beatable
Stokes arrested in early hours of Monday morning. Hales helping police with enquiries.
*Developing....
Not looking good he has been dropped too.
did he punch someone in a walkabout?
(From Avon & Somerset Police Twitter feed)
"APPEAL: Did you see a disorder in the Queens Road/Clifton Triangle area of Bristol at around 2.35am yesterday? A 27-year-old man suffered facial injuries and was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary for treatment. A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue."
Clifton Triangle is approx. 15 minute walk from a Walkabout so I'm not ruling it out.
FFS. Does he think he's warner?
Just before the test squad is announced too.
