WTF can't I buy a mustard pot anymore?
You know a little (Usually yellow) one with a lid and a small spoon.
I've tried every supermarket, cook shop, and department store ending with a long chat to a nice lady in John Lewis on Sunday who confirmed that, no, they don't stock them anymore. AND, she says, she's had 3 enquiries for them recently. So I'm not the only one.
(apparently Colemans sell one for £16. Madness)
It's insane I tell you. What's happening to this country? I dispair....
Searching "mustard pot" & "mustard jar" on eBay throws up a few.
I'd recommend trying a local antique or bric a brac type shop.
or the 1950s
i have a colmans one in the shape of a shop, any good? my local kitchen shop sells quite a few.
Doesn't mustard, erm, already come in a pot..?

Tick!

It comes in a jar. If you have guests, you don't put jars on the table. Manners Timothy!
And we buy powdered mustard, which you mix up. I'm currently using an egg cup and a teaspoon. Not pretty.
Oh, I freely admit this is a silly, petty thing. But I just thought "I'll get a mustard pot" and it's become a mission to find one, it's just crazy!
😀
ebay is full of them...

Thanks CaptF. You are indeed correct, that is proper mustard. English Mustard. For beef.
We get powdered because we use it in recipes.
(Woah! Cooking! Eating off the dining table! Table manners! I guess most people just eat TV dinners in front of the TV...... 😉 )
my posh relis have silver mustard/ butter/salt&pep trenchers for each setting.
Rich, yes I've seen them on EvilBay, and that's fine. But why don't shops sell them? 😉
do you have a kitchen specific shop near? they will surly have them. my local ones in cirencester and nailsworth do.
Tang, I've tried at least 3 kitchen shops......
Must have been looking for 6 months or more, on and off!
Becuase practically no-one wants one these days?
Other forms of mustard are available.
If you have guests, you don't put jars on the table
At this level of faux-politeness, my give-a-shite-ometer barely registers.
peter you can have my colemans for nothing. mind you id px it for a fork top lockout instead of the pushloc on my reba teams.....
Besides, wholegrain is way better in mash, and horseradish is way better with beef ... 😉
Other forms of mustard are available.
But I only use one at the table.

It registers enough to try (On a blatently tonnge-in-cheek thread) and sound clever though, yes? 8)
I make no apologies for being a bit twee and old fashioned any more. If we have guests, out come the posh plates & cutlery, the top notch home cooked food and we make a meal (haha!) of it!
😀
ADH - Horseradish?? on BEEF? HORSERADISH??? Be gone with you, heathen!
PeterP, a little smattering of Horserubbish goes down a treat with roast beef. Approved.
Dammit, now I want a mustard pot! PeterP, keep us updated!
Although I'm confused about the horseradish - goes down a treat on roast beef no? Also Smoked salmon, but I digress.
this is the one you want. only £100
