Wintersleep
Morcheeba
Dropkick Murphys
Metallica
John Butler trio
Recommend me something else otherwise I'll wear these out!
Grizzly Bear
I have really got into Rev Hammer again recently, like a more rock n roll Seth Lakeman. If you like the chaos of DKM, try Gogol Bordello - especially Super Taranta.
Frightened Rabbit - midnight organ fight
MC Rut
(not rap despite the "MC" moniker which actually stands for "Middle Class" Rut)
The Thermals
Foxboro Hottubs
The Decks
the answer, that supported ac dc might be worth a listen
Empire of the Sun,
First 4 tracks are Genius then it goes off kilter but picks up again towards the end.
I always recommend a bit of Steve Earle, and some Alabama 3. No idea whether you'd like 'em though. 😀
Bridge and Tunnel. from New York. my band played a gig with them in manchester last night; best band i've seen in years. seriously amazing; talented musicians and really nice people. and they're all into bikes too- rachel (the girl that plays guitar and sings) also has her own company making messenger bags (vaya bags)...
anyway, here:

The Aliens - Astronomy for Dogs.
Haven't met anyone yet who doesn't like it :-).
It's the Beta Band without Steve Mason, so the mood is a bit lighter - still pure class though.
Amada Palmer: Who Killed Amanda Palmer
and Martha Wainwright: I know you're married but Ive got Feelings too
my finds of the year. Both on spotify.
anything by [url=
really getting into them at the moment
Bat for lashes... animal collective... pantha du prince
Give those a shot 🙂
repatriot: WEmpire of the Sun's Walking on a Dream "always pushing up a hill searching for the thrill of it", that's a classic song for a bike film.
If you like Seth try "Show of Hands" fantastic easy folk music
But honest lyrics try this
Air- Moon Safari 🙂
😆 Del is it true your favorite track is sexy boy?? 😆
The Derek Trucks Band - Already Free
Susan Tedeschi - Back to the River
The new Doves album's bloody great. As is the new Camera Obscura album if you're into perfect pop lovliness.
jim white
Second Camera Obscura. How about Andrew Bird, Asobi Seksu, Metric, The Dears, The Acorn, Black Mountain, Wolf Parade, School of Seven Bells, Howling Bells, Gemma Hayes, The New Pornographers, The Submarines, The Stills, The Shins, Stars, The Wailin' Jennies, Fleet Foxes, Kris Delmhorst, Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin, Joan As Police Woman, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Death Cab For Cutie.
There, that little lot ought to keep you occupied for a little while. I have albums by all of the above, and I've seen most live as well, and every one is a truly quality act. I don't listen to rubbish. 😉
Andy - that's not the Del you're thinking of. sorry. 🙂
Just thought of a couple more, The Joy Formidable and Mechanical Bride. Oh, and Thea Gilmore. Then there's Elle Edmonson...
I was about to recommend the Joy Formidable -
also PJ Harvey latest
also second the recommends for Bat for Lashes and especially for Metric
also School of Seven Bells
The Decemberists, Band of horses, the beautiful girls.
You should definitely check out John Frusciante.."The will to death" "The past recedes" "Dark/Light" are my favourite..
I like the John Butler Trio too, first heard Earthbound Child on the Collective..
🙂

Eldridge, read his post and look at the list of people sheldona's listening to. Do any of those artists actually look like they might be writing symphonies. No, I didn't think so. Every one of those composers is familiar to me, I even have recorded works by a number of them, and I'm sure that sheldona is old enough to have heard of most as well. Go and troll somewhere else, there's a good boy, I think it's past your bedtime.
Engelbert Humperdinck
"Quando, Quando.."
Soulfly - Conquer
Hello CountZero
appropriate name!
look at the list of people sheldona's listening to
Actually, old boy, if YOU read his post properly you'll find he asks for
something else
So (DURRRR - that's a reference to The Simpsons) recommending something like he's already listening to is not a helpful response
and he may be
old enough to have heard of most as well
but that doesn't mean he's been adventurous enough to listen to them, does it now?
Not impressed by your claim:
I even have recorded works by a number of them
Most of the people I know have CDs ("recorded works" LOL!) by all of them - often multiple versions by different orchestras/conductors/soloists
Welcome to the world of middle class, educated people with musical tastes which extend beyond the popular
Go and expose your proletarian education somewhere else, there's a good boy. I think this topic has gone beyond your intellectual capacity.
😉
I would recommend:
The King Blues, Cara Dillon, Flobots, Emiliana Torrini, Alela Diane, Martin Simson (amazing fingerstlye guitarist), bellowhead, & Bella Hardy
'Tis mostly folky type stuff
band of horses, BRILLIANT, also john butler trio, look up danny macaskill on you tube, awesome tune and rider....................
Not that it's particularly new, but I've been enjoying Bon Iver recently. Oh, and on a bit of a retro 'bl00dy hell I'd forgotten all about them' way, the sunny week just gone was great for Ocean Colour Scene and the Cardigans.
And Godspeed You Black Emperor for when it's not sunny!
I second Band of horses! ****in awesome they are.
Er, fourthed. Got into them at the second album. Truly magnificent.
Hmm. I think I'll go record shopping tomorrow lunchtime...!
