Staying with family next weekend up in Wheldrake nr York.
Anyone local to there got any suggestions on a decent MTB loop in the area? Or within 30mins drive.
Something a couple of hours to get round.

You're not going to get anything within 30 mins drive I'm afraid.
Easiest to get to from there is probably Leeds Urban Bike Park (45mins according to Google Maps). I've not been myself but have heard good things. There was a thread about it on the Bike Forum last week.
Other than that you've got Dalby approx 1hr away. Or locally it's all pancake flat stringing together of bland bridleways.
It's properly flat round 'ere. I have a near 100 km route with 300m of climbing.
Riding is better suited to cross or road bikes.
On a plus side there are plenty of good pubs to ride to.
Dalby is probably your best bet, but get there early to avoid the traffic on route.
Sutton Bank and Howardian Hills would be worth a look but would be more than a 30 min drive.

There is one top descent off the side (down past the small lake) but I don't believe it is 100% legitimate.
The climb back up is fun / a bitch depending on your view of climbing.
If it was me, I'd be going to Dalby though as, although it might take a little longer than you want to get there, you will get by far the most value from the purpose-built trails.
Skipwith common is right next door. Bordering on the 'cheeky' trail but will be real quiet this time of year, and you will be doing a number of loops.
Yearsley Woods is just to the north for gravel.
You also have an off road route (tarmac) all the way from Riccall to York center.
Boring as hell but nice if the kids are young, follows the solar route.
Yearsley has quite a few decent mtb descents, it's fairly sloppy right now though.
Dalby or Leeds Bike park if you want to avoid the mud.
Yearsley has been logged and whats left is pretty boggy so I’d give that a miss.
