[Closed] MSE on the laptop

I've been using this for a couple of years with no problems but it's not installing the updates for the last couple of days for some reason, seems to get half way through but not complete so now it's out of date.
I have just uninstalled it and installed it again but no difference.
Any ideas?

Reboot.

Disk check.

sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

AV not updating can be a symptom of an infection (malware sometimes intentionally targets such things). Try a scan with Malwarebytes, or [url= https://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ]ESET's online scanner[/url] if that won't install either.

Is the rest of Windows Update working?

Cheers I'm useless with these things.
I've not done the windows update for ages I used to get a pop up reminder but not lately. Turns out I have 40 updates which won't update now either.....
