I found keeping the hose pipe out, in view, near our lawn has stopped the local cats from crapping all over it.

This may be tangentially linked to the recent period where said hose pipe would be used to liberally douse any cats that I happened to catch in our garden. Fun times.

Give it a tug and if it doesnt lift you should be good to go.
Only take about a third off the top though....

White pepper and human pee, if apparently good at putting them off... well I think it a good reason to pee in the garden anyways (partner isn't so happy when I do it in the front garden ;D )
Though the RSPCAdon't make mention of these options.. automatic garden sprayer sounds like the simplist option
