I cant remember anything over the last couple of years that has made me think think "wow that was brilliant".

wheres the next fight club, the next casino, the next good fellas, heat, seven, lock stock, trainspotting?

cant think of anything in the last couple of years that even comes close? perhaps I missed them?

Tinker tailor is good. Very good in fact. Saw it yesterday. Great cast, good plot and pace, Gary Oldman was superb, very understated performance but better for it!!

sorry but to me tinker taylor was just a bit mleh! it was OK, and can see why oldman may be up for an oscar and he was incredible, but the film as a whole was just a bit slow for me. Certainly didnt leave me thinking wow!

I watched Inception for the first time last night. That's a pretty stand-out movie.

I actually dozed off during it, thought it was a bit boring tbh. Brilliantly done, but just too slow. Was like a 1-hour episode of Retro Spooks dragged out to fill up a cinema slot. Was quite disappointed considering the hype it got.

The kebab I had before the cinema was more memorable.

Mm lamb shish...

Not that recent but have you seen Dead Man's Shoes? Pretty much the only film I've seen over the last few years that made me go Whoa! Amazing film IMO.

Inception: hugely overrated. Nowhere near as clever as it likes to think it is. But still, a very good film all the same.

Saw WNTTAK on Saturday. That and TTSP, films of the year so far.

Drive is a very cool, tense film.
Best film I've seen in a loooooong time.

Take on board the comments bout TTSS but I'm a big fan of Cold War spy thrillers and for me just being immersed into the story was fantastic. Yes, in a kinda life on mars kinda way, but to me the way the story built up to the ending meant it didn't feel too drawn out.

It still seems people were expecting some kind of fast paced spy thriller when they went to see Tinker Tailor...

Bless 'em. 🙂

It's not looking like it'll get a full general release but 'hell and back again' a documentary by Danfun Denis was one of most thrilling cinematic experiences I've ever had. Imagine the work of the greatest war photographers and then living in the moment the photo was taken. Raw, beautiful and honest. See it on the biggest screen and best projector you can find- on in Glasgow at the gft this week I believe.

er, well, ignoring all the obvious ones, maybe because of the distinct lack of explosions, en masse three-way shootouts, general ultra violence, hints at gratuitious $ex and car chases in the trailer? 🙂

Also the fact that it didnt star Jason Statham, Matt Damon, Jet Li, Bruce Willis or Vin Diesel...

Or indeed Megan Fox. 😉

I was actually planning on reading this whole thread, and commenting on several other replies. However, this is more urgent then anything.

How can you describe Hanna as quite good? Did you watch a different Hanna to me? It is the worst film I have ever seen. And I am deadly serious about that. I've watched most of Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2, and found it much more entertaining then Hanna.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0270846/

Hanna's plot is like 2% content and 98% hole. The acting is terrible, the story makes no sense, nothing is believable, everything is stupid. And it drags on soooooooooooooooooooooooooo long.

I'm ok now.

Give it a few years and everyone will realise just how incredible and different Scott Pilgrim was.

Subjectivity being what it is; you have to accept people liking different things.
