Got a Moto G3 that is nearly 3 years old, been almost faultless but recently is starting to slow/freeze etc.

Would a 'hard reset' and an empty memory card bring it back to life? Anyone with experience of doing this? I'm reluctant to replace it as battery still good and there appears to be a minefield of different models of the current Moto phones and CBA to work it all out unless I have to.

Cheers

How much free memory is left? My other half's old one did this, and it was pretty sure to the ever expanding size of apps filling up the memory and leaving bugger all for the swap file.
She ended up with about 2 apps left on it, and it just about ran ok. One of the main reasons for getting shot.

As above. Hard reset and clean up of unused apps will buy you some time

Clear the cache: that will free up storage space, which will make a difference. I did this on my Moto G 3rd Gen a few weeks ago and it's certainly improved matters.

I just did a hard reset on my G3 after similar behaviour.
It cleaned out huge old files (eg old apps that were removed long ago had some files in there still).
It's much, much faster.
I've been fussy about minimal apps. I'm out of contract as of a fortnight, I think new phone will be on way as I can get G5 or Nokia6 for £10 a month or less.

delete facebook and twitter apps for example and just use them in the browser. It'll probably be too much stuff installed in it, clear caches and unused apps etc. basically check your free space for apps, you want that to be a gig atleast, preferably two, and to delete any unused apps that are sitting using up RAM.

My G3 is almost 2 years old, 16GB version, not slowing down at all but I do need to shift a 1000+ photos to update some stuff. This happens regular I usually delete an app like twitter for a fortnight (its a bit like coming off heroin) and then download it again. I'm fairly app light and prefer to use the browser for most stuff.

I've got a work iphone 6S+ 64GB which is just starting to slow down which is very annoying given that it is less than 18 months old and is hardly hammered and barely has an app on it.
