Almost no trains have a seperate guards van, and due to the fuel, petrol and oil they will not allow you.

Not allowed, petrol and oil on train as stated above is a big no, no. You get in the the carrige of fuel on vehicles laws which is very tricky(according to Network Rail).

Whereabouts? I have an empty van north and southbound this week and next week. We may be able to assist.

Thanks cbike, I've not bought it yet, pondering an epic road trip to Geneva in August and just didn't fancy the UK leg, so I wanted to use the train as far as Dover.

Euro tunnel vehicle carrying trains are all fitted with various alarms to detect a fire, or smouldering/smoke, they are also fitted with a sump to catch any leaking fuel.
