[Closed] Monitor for MacBook Pro recommendations

I am using my MBP more and more for image manipulation. I'd quite like to stick with it as I love the portability for working on location but at home it would be useful to be able to connect to a large HD screen/monitor.

Anyone doing this, and if so care to recommend something please? I'm lost with all this tech stuff.

Do you know if you have a Thunderbolt port? Oh, and what's your budget?

V good idea

How much (or little) do you want to spend?

For instance, an Apple Cinema Display would be nice, but I don't imagine you want to splash out £900 just on a screen!

I suppose I was looking at about 200 maybe a bit more for the right screen.

I don't know if I have a Thunderbolt port, it's a 2yr old alloy body MacBook Pro.

If it's 2 years old, it won't be a Thunderbolt, but will be a normal Mini Display Port. Whatever screen you get, you'll need the correct Mini Display Port adapter (which is about £25) so don't forget that.

Right, for £200 or less there's plenty of decent screens about. Personally, I like Samsung, others may differ but they're my fave. You should be getting something like a 23/24" screen, with either 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 resolution for your money.

Something like the following would be ideal...

It is a very competitive market now though, so have a look around and do some homework before you buy.

Head to a big computer store to plug a few in and see which you like. Samsung a fair shout.

I have a Macbook pro with Thunderbolt power (I though these were first introduced in 2011?) and a Thunderbolt 27" Cinema display - it is AWESOME!

Not using it with a MacBook but just picked up a Dell u2711, really nice 27inch display (think it's the same IPS panel as the one used in the 27inch apple displays but with a matte finish) 2560x1440, can be found for around £500. You'll need to make sure you get an adapter that supports Dual-Link DVI for your MacBook.

Oops, just saw the £200 bit.
