Think its more a case of the Police Federation point scoring about government cuts.

I reckon he has resigned over something he did say, but having denied it constantly can't now say, "on mature recollection, I did actually say "pleb"". So Cameron has told him to step down for now. I'm sure we'll see the tosser back in one guise or another in the future.

Indeed. And if I was a member of the polis fed I'd be bloody delighted with taking such a major scalp.

Just a happy coincidence, I'm sure. 😀

I'm delighted that the horrible, lying scumbag has been forced out.
Obviously, he lacked the self awareness to realise what he'd done and will probably carry on blaming someone else 'till his dying day.

If he associated with 'plebs', perhaps he could go for a drink with John Terry and bitch about how unfair life is.
I'm sure they'd get on famously.

A high ranking Cyclist gets told to get off and walk, whilst a Flunky in a limo would have the gate opened, the cyclist swears at the plebs and loses his job, and we're happy about that?

Plod should be sworn at, it's part of the role of one who would attempt to enforce the will of a corrupt society upon his fellow man for financial gain.

I trust the offending plod will also lose his job or at the very least be condemned to the beat for all time.

I'm not particularly bothered by the swearing (though I expect politicians to set an example), it's his attitude which led to him calling them plebs.

The question still remains, was Plod being untruthful? Wouldn't exactly be out of character for them...

Anyway the new Chief Whip is rumored to be Sir George Young

It often amazes me, how the most self appointed politically right on and liberal folk on STW are the most joyfully hateful and venomous at the first opportunity. Such hypocrisy brings joy to my heart and makes me realise that all humans are hate filled animals, just some of you try to pretend otherwise.

Cheers tazzy.

(Can I just add:

I don't really think Mitchell should have been tasered
This is schadenfreude on my part, for sure. But bilious hatred, no.)

When I see threads of this sort - I can predict with unerring accuracy the regulars that turn up providing links to police inaction or failure - never the successes. The mind boggles (not really) at why they should rock up with mind numbing regularity - almost as though they have an axe to grind - hey ho.

Not the OP who I know to be a good bloke.

PS - Glad Mitchell's gone, ****.

the police are always right - 1433 people have died in contact with the police since 1990, no police officers have been convicted.

The police deal with people in a state of very poor health on a daily basis. Since 1990 - I'm surprised the number isn't higher than that TBH.

We know that people die ... sometimes this happens when they have had contact with police ... or A&E ... or the Brigade or ...

A few more going to get caught out here too.

Senior Conservative, [s]Labour and Lib Dem[/s] figures are among the MPs to claim the cost of rent on subsidised second homes while also receiving rental income from other properties in London.

Writing on his website, Mr Luff, a Conservative MP, said he had "no choice" but to either sell it or vacate the property and rent it out.

I think the concern is that following various revelations over the behavior of politicians and police officers over the last few years, many people will believe neither side.

As the Leeds fans are discovering on another thread you are often judged by the worst in your job/group/sport not the best.

We know that people die ... sometimes this happens when they have had contact with police ... or A&E ... or the Brigade or ...

I suppose the difference is the brigade and A&E don't have to forcefully restrain (on a regular basis) or have people in the cells, so the suspicion more readily falls onto the police, particularly for those that a have a pre-disposition of distrust towards the queens finest urban fist fighters.

I think the problem is that as a force that upholds the law and gives the public a strong police charter when the piss poor behaviour of certain officers comes to light it reflects badly upon all, particularly when there is a consensus behaviour to protect your own. So things may not always investigated quite as vigorously as they could be. That's just human nature, but you need to seen to be whiter than white, it's an issue.

Interestingly the stance that "it's the same old police haters what do you expect" is exactly the same behaviour as "all rozzers are bent thugs". It doesn't look like impartial behaviour and we all have prejudice based on experience, but again the police need to be impartial and objective.

kimbers - I know this, of course I do. More so than any of you lot! I've been doing it since I was 16 and have been an officer for 17 years. The truth remains that despite the undoubted failures, the successes outweigh the negatives.

I try not to get drawn into these threads - I'm off to play XCOM Enemy Unknown, which any gamer with any self respect should steam into.

What? Genuinely, what? How bizarre!

interesting that the press haven't made a big thing about the un-authorised briefing to the press regarding the issue by the Police, which is now under investigation. Funny how the press/police bias/leaks are suddenly overlooked when the police federation are after a scalp.
