Looking for a mini greenhouse to stick in the back garden for purposes of getting seeds kicked off before moving them into some plastic troughs that I have for growing. Mostly interested in growing tomatoes, beans etc. In the past I've just started these off in yoghurt pots in the kitchen window but would rather not have them inside, so thought about getting said greenhouse. May also remove some shelves and put tomato plants in there full time once all my seedlings have kicked off.

I'm on a limited budget for which it seems you can get either 1) some metal poles with a plastic tent over the top (~£30-40) which are a little more spacious but look like they might take off if someone farts, or 2) a smaller wooden framed one with polycarbonate panels which look slightly more robust and maybe nicer to use when doing daily watering, but possibly still flimsy and costing about twice the price. (something like this

Needs to have a pretty small footprint, approx 1m wide by 50m deep. Might be able to do some rudimentary fixing to prevent take off, but I'm lacking a good bit of wall space to fix it to. Could possibly bolt onto the side of my already past its best wooden shed.

My wife has a couple of the two plastic tent things that you reference for getting seeds going before they go to the allotment. Once you've got a load of seed trays on the shelves they're pretty stable, though I did push the garden bench against them when we had a breezy couple of days last month. They seem to do the job.

I have that very same mini greenhouse. Needed something that small so I could hide it in the only sheltered area of the garden - I got fed up of the larger one I had losing panels on a regualr basis

The panels would blow out in a very strong wind and it's very light so will need fixing to the ground in some way or at least a few heavy pots. Build quality is not very high but it's not very expensive and it's repairable enough. Assembly was a faff on my own as it was a little breezy, a pair of helping hands will help enormously when putting it together.

It made it through Winter fine but as I say it's in a very sheltered corner.

Aldi were doing some cold frames for £24 last week - might be worth seeing if you can grab one at your local.
They looked to be roughly the same as the wooden ones that retail for about £100 from Amazon, Robert Dyas, Boyes, B&Q, the usual suspects.

If you can snag one for £24, and spend the rest on some outdoor paint / sealer then you should be able to get a good little set up. WE had ours (from Amazon) for a few years and it was useful. We didn't seal it and we kept it outside all winter and it lasted 4 years. If we had sealed it and put it in the garage I reckon we could've kept it longer.

I've now gone down the route of building my own but I think I've overengineered it, but at least it'll last...
