My son is really keen on playing mine craft so have got him the membership.
When I try and install it is says that its corrupt and needs deleting.
Any one had a similar problem and how to get around this.
cheers.

Installed neatly on the core2duo macbook pro that my son & daughter use.

I downloaded the zip file. Unpacked it to reveal the minecraft application and dragged that into the applications folder (as admin).

There could be a few reasons for your 'corrupt' message. It might be that the zip file was incompletely downloaded. redownload it Your safari setup might automatically unpack it. If not, use unarchiver or archive utility to unpack it.

Make sure you have Java installed as minecraft is a Java application.

As each user opens mine craft it creates a minecraft folder in ~/library/application support/ When the user logs into the minecraft program it downloads all the real minecraft content and puts it in this folder.

The real fun starts when they ask you to install all the various mods & textures. 'please install the explosives + mod for me' is something that took me a little while to figure out how to do even as a 'pro' 🙄

Boy 1 has got to the texture pack stage. Most don't work with Mac. Some will but require you to copy certain files in to library folders. Or download further add-ons to get them to work. The last time involved a Time Machine jump to 20 minutes ago to "fix" Minecraft.

That pack just got put in the trash.

You have my sympathies.

My son found his Macbook pro underpowered but OK but he built himself a PC for £350, which does Minecraft well.
