London would be 7th on that list, not bad seeing as China is 20x the size of the UK.
Some of them above it are conurbations e.g. Guangzhou - Incl. Shenzhen, Dongguan, Macao and part of Foshan, Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Huizhou.
I've just had to google Wakefield, and I'm not Chinese.

so hardly comparable.
Even Manchester @ 2.55 million would be small pretty on that list.

Quite a confusing list -Lijiang as a pop. of 155,000 but its administrative pop. is over a million. As slowoldman pointed out our city pops. do compare quite relatively to china's city pops considering there national pops.

In China there are 135 million people are called Wang.
To put in perspective though almost no one in China is called Smith. And there are probably very few Wangs in Wakefield 😡

It's interesting to know that Portugal is not in Africa.
I've been to 4 of the top ten biggest Chinese cities. The size of the population is difficult to take in and they are so polluted it's unbelievable.

My wife's from Jingzhou - been there, not so great but the city walls are good. The West Lake at Hangzhou is my favourite place in China though the city itself is unappealing.
The beaches are splendid too.
I wonder if there are any filthy stinking hovels nearby.
