MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
Just stayed in a B&B, and the bed was fitted with a memory foam topper. My wife and I had the best sleep for years. We know it was a topper, as you could make out where it ended and the mattress started-when pulling the bed down. However, I didn't bother to measure the thickness. Any recommendations on the minimum thickness required to have any discerning effect? And does the make/cost have a great price effect-or are they all pretty well the same i.e. is memory foam the same material whatever, or does it vary.
(I am aware that starting a bed related thread will attract some STW filth as well as some genuine replies-if only to satisfy the indulgencies of some of the perverts on here...fire away!)
Thanks,
Baz
We have 2 3" toppers to form a 6" mattress in our camper. It proved so good we got a 3" topper for our bed. Works brilliantly.
No idea on makes etc, I suspect all 3 are different - I bought the 2 in the camper and they were cheap. The wife bought the other one so I'd assume it was expensive (I've learnt not to ask). But... it's all the same stuff. 3" seems to be plenty as a topper.
Cheers for that...been trawling Ebay and found 1 to 4 inch toppers. The one below seems ok-good feedback and tons of sales.
any thoughts?
..
Yeah, that's the sort of thing. I ordered from ebay (years ago, don't know who from). As long as the size matches your bed I don't think there's much more to it.
But... it's all the same stuff
I think (and could be wrong) that memory foam comes in a variety of different densities which affect how quickly it conforms to your body, how quickly it springs back to its original shape, and how firm it is overall.
nice one, thanks 5thElefant. Just wanted some input from someone who has experience of these things.

You may well be right. Probably doesn't help much without doing back-to-back snooze tests with different densities.
The 3 I have appear to be the same. Or I can't tell the difference.
