brought up the Butcher in Melrose, then, today this news on the BBC site. He was definitely a wrong un.

He is evil. Everyone local knew he was a nasty bastard but clearly this was on another scale. I've had a run in with him before, but that is not unusual round here. Locals never used his shop, ever.
There was about three weeks of very intense forensic activity after his arrest, including digging up the garden. The question now is if they can / will link him to further crimes.
Very satisfying to see that mug shot of him looking like that.
