I kind of want to see it just to see how bad it is . Surely this is an occasion when downloading it from a torrent site would be a morally acceptable option ?

So long as you seed generously (minimum ratio of 1) torrenting is always morally acceptable.

Saying that, I wouldn't bother as it would be funny if this became the least pirated movie in history.

Edit to add before anyone asks:  Yes, I would shoot a policeman, steal his helmet, go to the toilet in his helmet, send it to his grieving widow, and then steal it again!

Still plenty of availability for Rochdale tonight.

I suppose if nobody goes they'll be able to get maintenance in to fix the two broken seats.

The problem seems to be that there’s a misconception about what the film is, as she explained last night at the premiere….

‘Some have called this a documentary. It is not,'

‘It is a creative experience that offers perspectives, insights and moments that only few perceive.'

Maybe the world just isn’t ready?

I had the misfortune of seeing the preview on the BBC news. Not a single clip showed her doing 'good works' , you know the type of thing that Betty Ford or Michelle Obama did, often without fuss or not promoted.

All I saw were 6" stilettos disappearing up aircraft steps, (for all I know Donny could have been wearing them) oh and her ringing the stock exchange bell.

If it was a film about an eastern European who girl arrived in a strange new country and worked her way to becoming The First Lady, meeting all sorts of unpleasant and abusive characters along the way, then it might make a good story.

But for it to work she needed to have ended up with a good guy, not an unpleasant and abusive one.

How detached from reality would you have to be to actively want this kind of thing? You'd have to be absolutely hatstand!

How detached from reality would you have to be to marry that orange faced absolute cXnt?

It's not even close to that. As in its not her life story, you'd learn absolutely nothing about her as a person from watching the film as its not about her life,  its not even the story of her time as First Lady (and therefore some sort if insight into the presidency from that perspective)

When you take the perspective that a comparable political documentary - the life story of Ruth Bader Ginsborg - the life story of someone who had a 60 year legal and political  career with 27 years of that as a Supreme Court justice - cost less than $1m to produce you'd expect a lot for $40m

'Milania' is the story of the 20 days leading up to the 2024 inauguration. There is seemingly supposed to be $2m worth of scintillating political and human drama (two RBG life stories worth of content) in each of those days.

The other difference is people actually wanted to go and see the RBG doc and its cinema run was extended to 22 weeks and it was the highest grossing doc of the year.

Given the lack of customers I guess the final point is true.

Figures vary but seems at least 28m of that was paid to her.

Since it is just the 20 days I wonder if there will be sequels. I might actually pay to watch the one for her husbands funeral.

Apparently there’s also a 3 part documentary in the pipeline for nobody to bother watching on Amazon Prime

Another article in the Manchester Guardian has quite a telling final paragraph about the director.

Ratner, who divides his time between Israel and a villa on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, is now working on the completion of a spin-off mini series about the first lady, before he turns his attention to the fourth instalment of his moribund Rush Hour action series, which was greenlit by Paramount last year after the president expressed a desire for the franchise to be resurrected.

Awful.

I genuinely can't wait to see who signs up to star in the next Rush Hour.

Surely not a 70 something Jackie Chan.

I thought Jackie Chan wasn't very well nowadays...a rather long life of physical exertion and injuries catching up with him.

That is someone seriously pissed at sitting in a cinema on their own knowing two things

firstly a bunch of people on social media were asking "which ****wit booked the single seat for that showing".

secondly all their mates who would normally come and watch a film with them but made excuses about working late are down the pub laughing their tits off.

A little side earner I guess.

What is $80m ($40m rights + $40m advertise and with $28 going to the first lady) to carry favour in exchange for the multibillions $$ market?  Good investment that!

Also if you wish to give someone money for favour to look legit you need to make it as if they earn it.

I'll wait for Kermode to tell me what to think.

I don’t need anyone to tell me what to think, especially about this horrorshow. Just the fact that it exists is enough to confirm all I need to know about the state America is in right now.

The thing I don't get about these vanity projects is that having a film made about me, then seeing pictures of myself and mongrammed stuff with my initials on everywhere is the kind of thing I wake up screaming about in the middle of the night. Its the ultimate nightmare.

Not for me, I’ve never had those delusions of grandeur, or imagined for one second there was anyone who cared enough about me to even make such a thing. There aren’t even enough pictures of me around to make a trailer, let alone a marquee poster!

The production company is a shell company set up to funnel bribes donations to the cause, with enough plausible deniability to put off the IRS.

The fact that there is a film, is merely a side effect, there had to be 'a product' to show for it. This is the product.

Hmm. That didn't appear. Click the link.

Basically there's a campaign to get an erotic spoof thriller about Melania from nearly a decade ago to the top of the Amazon rankings on searches for Melania (currently up to third I believe) You can download it for free (the author has agreed to give it away free to help the cause) so you don't need to give Amazon any money. You are also not obliged to read it if you don't want to...

There are many ways to criticise the Trump Crime Family. I don't think sexual humiliation is a fair one.

Oops, Radiohead man not happy

It has come to our attention that a piece of music from Phantom Thread has been used in the Melania documentary. While Jonny Greenwood does not own the copyright in the score, Universal failed to consult Jonny on this third-party use which is a breach of his composer agreement. As a result Jonny and Paul Thomas Anderson have asked for it to be removed from the documentary.
