Currently in between jobs and needed a car to ge me from A to B and a mates car came up at the right price so bought it.

It's a 2005 Audi A4 Quattro 3.0 Diesel.

The previous owner to that removed the DPF and it has a straight through exhaust, which is becoming annoying AF, sounds great witht he V6 under accelartion but it's a bit too shouty and if I wanted everyone to look at me i'd have an RS6, not a 15 year old bus.

A local tuner has loads of scrap cars and in their yard they have a compplete standard system from a 2.7Tdi for sale for £50.

The boxes look identical to 3.0 but he reckons they'll work.

Will they? Looking on parts websites there's a part code difference between 2.7 & 3.0tdi's, but this guy reckons it'll be fine.

I've got a few trips down south next week for interviews and I think re-instating the back box will help when I come to shift this car on.

Isn't a missing DPF an MOT fail now? For £50 it sounds worth having.

I believe there's a way around it, as long as the emissions are within range and this has an MOT on it now.

What do they mean by a complete system? Because if you're talking manifold back, this post seems to suggest the turbos are different and therefore a 2.7 exhaust may not fit a 3.0 turbo.

I'd echo the above though, there's no way you'll pass emissions if it's genuinely straight through and the tester should fail on the missing cat alone as far as I'm aware. Bare in mind the ethicality of smoking your way past pedestrians and cyclists too, it's quite obvious who has had a dpf delete on my morning commute...

Depends where your joining it, I'd imagine the front section will be different.

I'd look on euro car parts to see if the aftermarket ones share the same part number

Check here:

http://www.bosal.com/en/catalog/welcome

DPF should be present to pass the MOT. The tester is meant to check that it has not been removed. Not easy to spot if done correctly, but if the pressure sensor pipe work has been removed, or doesn't look connected the tester should fail the vehicle.

Is there a local garage that you can speak to about fitting whatever sections you need, to the existing exhaust rather than a complete system?

I had a mk4 Golf GTI years ago and the local garage cut the back-box off and fitted an aftermarket one using a fabricated jointing pipe. Worked a treat and never had any issues. Eventually I went for CAT back and reused the back-box

I'd be asking the tuner to fit the exhaust or see if you can use his ramp to see how it looks.
