Really rather bizzare, he's been with the company for 45 years, we all chipped in for pressie signed card, which he apparentley got on monday no idea what it was. Usually we have and chesse and wine at lunch and leaving person does a little thankyou speech, none of that.
Came round the office this afternoon started talking to people thought ahhhh personal touch say goodbye to everyone idividually nice touch few words move on to the next person. Nooooooooo wrong spoke to a few people ignored most of the office some who have been there 25 years not a word, about 100 people in office tops, leaves later in his spanking new 5 series bemmer ( company thankyou present) does this not strike you as being a bit odd, Been with company 10 years I feel slightly unappreciated.
Lets hope things improve.

I don't see the issue. I hate leaving dos anyway. Why should he speak to everyone?

I'll agree with you, it would strike me as a little odd too, but each to their own I guess.

That is nowhere near being a rant though, not even slightly.

Maybe he just didn't know how to handle the awkwardness of the situation. I can empathise with that.
