Agree with iDave - for a dirty treat BK Burgers win hands down, but their fries aren't great at all.

I am fond of both rarely but the McDonalds "big tasty" was a pleasant surprise. But the globally transient nature of the big mac tends to offer a familiar comfort that little else can. I can still remember the days before mcdonalds, the days when Wimpy ruled.

BK

We don't do MaccyD's.

But usually go to the pub, where we can get a cheese and bacon burger and decent chips for £6.99 (that's for two).

Wimpy by a country mile, - brown rolls and thousand island dressing. Impossible to eat a 1/2 pounder without smearing the dressing all over your face. There are still a few branches out there that offer table service with crockery and cutlery. Proper civilised british fast food.

Haven't had a MaccyDs for 5 years, and a BK for 3.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen for me - all the filthy flavour without quite so much guilt!

Did jamie oliver not come out recently and say Mcd's is now higher quality, more ethically sourced meatwise than most pubs. Or something similar. If i'm really starving and there's nowt else, Then BK for me. Although McFlurrys are the tits!

Chalk and Cheese.

BK if I want to actually eat something vaguely recognisable.
MacD for the taste, on the understanding that by taste I mean that wood pulp with sauce on does in fact have a taste that I enjoy.

MacD's - get a hamburger, fries and extra BBQ sauce, no pickle shiat. Put fries in with 'patty' and smother with BBQ sauce. Edible.

Never, ever, call that yellow plastic stuff cheese, and never have it on a burger, truly makes it taste proper rank.

BK if there is a McD's nearby.

If there isn't, then travel to a McD's as BK crank up the prices when they have no competition. £7 for a BK meal when there is no other fast food places, I'll go hungry in protest 🙂 If they are charging a competitive price then I'll normally chose them over McD's.

A mate of mine ended up in hospital with food poisoning twice. Both were AFTER he visited BK in Ealing. McD is better by a country mile.

There's one here in Farnborough, and it sems to do quite well.

Personally, I can't remember the last time I had a burger from McD or BK. It must be 10 years or more.

I always go for KFC. My first job was at KFC, and I still love it. 🙂

There's nothing where I live, there's a McD about 4 miles away but my choice would be BK of KFC but the nearest of those is a 15 mile drive away, a rare 'treat' for me ... I miss Woody's in West Drayton!

BK for a burger, but there aren't as many about so it'll often be McD's.

McD's for a tasty, wholesome (ha ha) breakfast and a half decent coffee.

KFC for a change.

Can't see that once in a while will hurt (much).

BK any day.

Had a Big Mac on Saturday when driving home from Scotland, kids asked for one, I had a Big Mac and couldn't finish it or those funny potato things.

Subway I'm sorry are just awful their fillings are horrible.

The quality in the UK is VERY variable. It's a franchise and their quality control is pretty poor.

I got into them in Oz where Subway outsells MuccyDs and BK/HungryJacks and the quality there is consistently good with excellent fresh, healthyish fillings.

If you can find a decent one in the UK then they are great.

BK burgers, McD fries.

Subway is vile, it's shite food pretending to be "healthy"

At least you know what you're getting with BK or McDonalds.

Yep, freshly baked "subs" served with fresh salad and a choice of meats/sauce. Clearly far less healthy than a scrotum burger on a plastic bun. 🙄

I seem to remember reading a report that there was as much fat in a subway sandwich as a Big Mac.

As a lorry driver it has to maccy d's every time but only because of their ease of access, ample parking for hgv's and cheap coffee. I don't go a bundle on the food but if I had to choose between a whopper and a big mac the whopper wins.

It's all shite really but the coffee is cheap and available at silly o'clock in the morning.

BK given the choice, but they're a bit thin on the ground near me, and the service is usually very poor.
Nearest one closed about 2 years ago; the building is currently being refurbed as a KFC despite there being another less than 3 miles away

McD breakfast is ok, as are the chicken leg ends. Won't touch anythiing else though

Kfc grease on a stick

Wendy's were nice in Canada. Tim Horton's donuts are something else....

Only if you order a footlong melt with extra sauce etc.

Have a look at these 8 subs each of which has less than 3g of fat per 100:

I think Subway were underfire for the nasty trans fats hidden in their breads, although I think they've been shamed into removing them now. The notion that by being a sandwich they are somehow a 'healthier' option is a bit of an illusion, partly promoted by making a show of baking their strange two-part-expanding-polyurathane-foam bread infront of you. Burgers are freshly prepared salad sandwiches too.

There isn't a BK on the island, so i have to wait until im on the mainland (usually after a day on the ale in that London) to treat myself. Oh and im over there in two weeks yay! Just helps make the day out that bit more special.

Subway is much nicer in Canada and you get 2 cookies as part of the meal day rather than the miserly 1 you get here. Rip-off Britain!

That said, given the choice it's got to be In-N-Out Burger everytime!

Wendy's is better than the both of them too.

There are still a few branches out there that offer table service with crockery and cutlery. Proper civilised british fast food.

Pah. WTF wants to piss about waiting for a meal to be delivered to your table when it's just a flippin burger. The reason you put up with crap burgers is that you get them straight away and can walk off eating them.

Subway is good - you can have a healthy sandwich if you select healthy ingredients

Quizznos in the US is better

However FTW, it definitely has to be:

Taco Bell.

Since they closed BK in Worcester the nearest branch to me is Gloucester / Cheltenham. So it's Subway unless we go down the coast and stop off at service station and have a BK.

I will visit a BK if on a long motorway drive and hungry, its cheaper than than getting a sandwich and coffee. Not been in a MacDonalds in years, I remember when one first opened in Bromsgrove it was very exciting, but my mum would still only take me to Spud u Like.

At motorway service stations KFC always seems to have longer queues than the co-located Burger King.

I may be weird but I prefer McDonalds to BK - normally have the chicken sandwich though.

It means this is the post that will settle the argument or win the game. Like playing a decisive move in chess, or laying down a winning hand in poker or something. Win the game at a stroke.
