Out on the roadie today giving it the beans up a hill and registered 193bpm on the Garmin. I normally top out at 186 and at this point I am ready to puke. I tried it again later and hit 192. Does or can your maximum heart rate increase with your level of fitness.?
Mine is doing this too, I think it's a good thing, mine use to be 188 now it's 193, surely if I can get it to beat more times a minute -faster- then it's becoming stronger....

It might also be your lactate threshold altering so you can actually push on harder than you could before.
I don't believe your maximum does increase through exercise, although I'm no expert so am happy to be proved wrong.
My best guess is that your tolerance to exercise has increased allowing you to get closer to your true maximum.
Yes, reckon you're probably just fitter so you can push yourself a bit further.
