This fella just flew in the window, 5cm long, biggest waspy type thing I have ever seen. What is it?

Beautiful insects! If you have a wooden leg you might get lucky and it might lay eggs in it with its long ovipositor.

Wood wasp. I ran around my work place like a 5 year old girl when I saw one of these . Scared the shite out of me until I found out they are completely harmless
