I've used Mapyx Quo 25k:1 map on my computer for several years & uploaded my ride from my Garmin 705 to see where I've been & where I could have gone. This has been particularly useful when I've done someone else's ride. I've even recommended to others on here.
Now I've upgraded to an Garmin Edge 810 which produces a .fit file. Unfortunately Mapxy Quo won't upload this file & on checking it with the help they confirm that the .fit file is not supported. I know lots of other maps are available & I upload to Garmin connect & strava too - but the OS map is pretty good at finding all the little tracks / bridalways etc.
Has anyone else been using Mapyx - and is this commercial suicide as the .fit file now seems to be the Garmin standard. I could probably do a workaround by exporting out & re-importing in - but Mapyx WTF?
I don't know about the Edge 810 but my Oregon lets me save rides as GPX, FIT or both.
Almost no software I use support FIT files, GPX has become the defacto standard. I just use gpsbabel to convert them! Although the Edge 810 will output GPX files so you are fine!
Hi Xora - thanks for that GPX would be fine - but all I can see in the Activities folder (810s history) is .fit files. How do I export out a GPX?
I have no idea, mine outputs GPX files in a folder somewhere. Can't remember if I had to set any settings. And I can't find the actual device at the moment to go check!
Im really sorry, I have either confused myself with memories from an older firmware or from my eTrex. My 810 is full of .fit files!
OK - Xora thanks for looking. Mine only have .fit files too. On googling there does seem to be some conversion apps available. As Mapyx quo boasts it can import 103 different file formats - it seems odd that it can't do .fit files - particularly as these must now be the standard Garmin ones.....
