Driving to London (from Manchester) tomorrow to visit family. Have all day to get there and will have 4 and 2 year old in the car.

Where is good to stop for a break with the kids? Anything worth a prolonged stop / extra drive to get to?

You could arrange to visit the Brooks saddle factory and tell your kids it's a re-enactment of medieval chastity belt manufacture.

Stay at home and set off at their bedtime, let them sleep all the way and drive on relativley traffic free roads.

I can't bear taking our twins (3) on journeys that long during the day.

If you "need" fuel, like I did yesterday on my way back from Manchester to Warwick, then I can highly recommend the services on the M6 toll, no queues but a damm expensive way to get fuel if you've got to pay the toll charge yourself! 😉

Oh and the Chilterns finest is on the way down, but for easy sign posting Cannock chase is the place!

Driving to work this morning circa 6am, though I’d fill up at Tesco. Cant be many mindless morons around at that time of day - The queue was about 15 cars!

I went to the local operator / extortionist down the road. No queue but that is not surprising at over £1.50 a litre. 😯

I though Cannock Chase but it is a bit early in the trip. Anything off the M40 or M6? Chilterns you say?

+ Toll rd or not the Toll rd?

If you just need a bio-break, Stafford services is the nicest - well, least manky - motorway service station on that run, at least till you get near That London.

Cougar

I’m not planning on having a dump until I’m south of Coventry!

4 and 2 yrs you say! To be honest I hadn't noticed that the first time 😉

Cadbury world is great, just come round the m5 instead of down the m6 Warwick castle would perhaps be the best place if they were a little older? After that what about Lego world?

I did this journey last Monday and had a great ride in the Peak District.

Just crack the window a bit and the kids'll be OK waiting in the car for a few hours.

😉
