Going for a night at Great John Street Hotel in a posh room and going to the theatre so any recommendations for eating on Monday early evening (before the theatre) and somewhere nice for lunch on Tuesday. (Not fussy on cuisine but perhaps we would rather go for restaurant/fine dining than the busy pub and grub places).

You'll need to book. Really really good though. Very cozy and the food is top notch

EDIT: closed monday. 🙁 Try Stock instead. Excellent!

The Orient, just off Peel Avenue. It's mint!

Lol @ Monksie

El Rincon de Rafa (Spanish) just off St John St. Not posh but very good food.

Cafe Instanbul (Turkish) used to be excellent food to but not been for a good while.

I didn’t enjoy the market restaurant but its closed anyway.

Jamie Olivers is good and they leave a number of tables un-booked so you can walk in without a booking but the staff are all a bit over the top in a JO style. San Carlo is the place to be seen, even Carlos Tevez likes it and he is picky.

Zinc is good but that is a chain. Avoid Rosso – Rio Ferdinand’s restaurant, its on its arse.

Australisia is supposed to be excellent.

Horas house for beans on toast. If you ask nicely he'll wear an apron and his cowboy boots

El Rincon de Rafa is top notch!! Dimitri's is pretty damn good too

Mr Thomas's Chophouse is great for lunch. You'll have to book. The fact it gets fully booked for weekday lunch tells you everything you need to know

If you don't make any special requests, he'll just wear the boots.

As in just the boots
