...so Mrs M has had it in her head that she wanted to take up the carpet in the hallway because "there's some nice tiles underneath". So she has. And there are. Very nice in fact.

Trouble is now she has created a death trap of tiles with mu=0.05 nearly taking either of us out if we walk through without giving it due consideration. Even the rug that lived in there slips across the floor.

Anyway, we can get grippy things for the rug I'm sure but anyone got any bright ideas for how to up the coefficient of friction somewhat? No matter how big the rug, there will still be some exposed bits just waiting to take us down. Putting down another carpet is apparently not an option.

Sensible shoes or slippers would possibly be the best option? 😉

Or a thin coat of clear epoxy with a dusting of clean small granular sand... 😉

funnily enough I spotted this earlier when looking at the Plasti dip coatings: http://www.plastidip.co.uk/product/plastidip-skid-tex

Maybe you could add it to some sort of floor sealant?

You could put something down on it like, oh, carpet for instance.

I'd start with a good clean with something mildly abrasive. It's possible someone has sealed them with something in the past that's gone slippery Had similar with a parquet floor we found under carpet in our house. Slippery as hell, but a bloody good clean sorted it out a treat

"Spill" jam all over it. No more slipping.

Or create some offspring. Everything is sticky for the next 10 years once you have kids
