[Closed] Making a catalogue/database style website

I want to create a website that'll act a bit like a database. Ideally a picture, a bit of text and a few fields of info, not much. The user can then search for keywords or list everything with a particular field in common. I'm hoping this has all been done before and there is a nice template I can use (free 🙂 ). Finally I'd like all the content to show up in a google search, so not be hidden in frames or flash or whatever. It would be nice to be able to host the whole thing rather than rely on it being hosted on another site, too but that's less important.

Is that pie in the sky or actually quite simple? Where to start looking? I'm OK at CSS and HTML but I don't want to be starting something like this from scratch.
