the U.K. wall plug is a design classic that is substantially safer than any other plug design on Earth.
We know electricity is scary stuff that needs a scary looking plug to handle it and can take the resulting foot pain of treading on one with typical stoicism.

The politeness of the drunken yoof in Magaluf, aya napa etc. I was especially proud of the girl who carried out 24 sex acts in front of eveyone in a nightclub. Classy.
Makes me so proud that our future is safe.
fair enough iolo.
Not sure blame can be firmly laid at the door of British plug design, though?
mmm, its a bit sad if we need a plug to be proud.
iolo, which club was this then ?
The OP reminded me of this:

there was a video doing the rounds of some girl being bullied by a huge crowd to do stuff. I didn't see it but it sounds like it was all a bit ugly.
It's not all that we have to be proud of. We have excellent gas fittings too.
We invented the hovercraft, too.
there you go;
excellent plugs
good quality gas fittings
the hovercraft
We can hold our heads high on the international stage of 'stuff that makes your nation great'.
We have good bridges too.
I heard she was Irish.
She wasn't being bullied, wwaswas, she was did what she did to get a free "holiday".
and stainless steel. From Sheffield.
99 years old this year. The best new material for 2000 years.
she was either being bullied, or coerced.
And was filmed by the people who coerced her, then reneged an the "agreement".
They are scum, not her

DARPANet was the first information network.

The tin can (1820) and the can opener (1855)! Two world changing British inventions!
The tin can (1820) and the can opener (1855)! Two world changing British inventions!
That was a tough 35 years.
What did we do for 35 years?
They employed children with long toe nails to open them.
We were stocking up ready for the zombie apocalypse.
Don't forget the cyclone vacuum cleaner.
We invented the hovercraft, too.
I often watch the last remaining customer hovercraft service running from my house. 🙂
This made me chuckle too. Local MP on Twitter: A friend works for @HovertravelLtd and told insurance co. his job. Lady on phone didn't believe hovercraft really existed...
What about the jet engine?
What about the jet engine?
They exist.

what does the rUK use 🙁
Telephone, casteyes, lightbulbs.
We don't do too bad really.
The polar bear-proof paper clip.it still needs perfecting.
I've had one of the MU folding plugs for a couple of years now, brilliant idea and very handy to throw in a bag but it's only a 1A output so it would be good if they brought out a 2.4A version.

Ooof!
Can't believe no one has mentioned the slide! I can't believe it wasn't invented until 1922!
This far and no one has mentioned...
The bicycle?
The pneumatic tyre?
531?
Planetary gearing?
Bowden cables?
Standardisation of bicycles components?
The slide in 1922?
I was in a salt mine here.
This mine is 7000 years old and the tour guide said the miners moved between mining layers via timber slides. In the tour we slid down two. Great fun they were too.

You sure about that?
I thought that it was a part of ulster which is southern Irish?
Either way; not british.
'The United Kingdon of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. NI is not part of Britain.

Me likey 😆
Haven't seen anything better than our road signage, even if it is a bit ott in places. On a similar note the underground map is genius and has be copied the world over.
Also, Ordnance Survey mapping. Nothing else can come close to the quality.

The 3 pin plug isn't foolproof though, you can't always account for the lowest common denominator.
I got called out to a shop where the lights weren't working, found this in the pitch black at the side of the door near the light switch!
NI is not part of Britain
NI is part of Ireland, one of the British Isles, which lies close to Great Britain, another of the British Isles, which itself contains (most of, excluding the smaller offshore islands) England, Scotland and Wales. Therefore NI is clearly British, but it is Britain which is ambiguous and undefined in your assertion.
Pedantry, that's what makes me proud to be British.
Another fine British invention - the Filofax
That'll be where you're going wrong - Ulster is a county of Northern Ireland.I thought that it was a part of ulster which is southern Irish?

CCTV in public places, that's another area we're world leaders in.

Ulster is the northernmost of the ancient provinces. The others being Munster, Leinster and Connaught.
Ulster has nine counties, three of which are now in the Republic of Ireland (Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal) and six of which are in Northern Ireland (Antrim, Down, Armagh, Derry, Fermanagh and Tyrone).

Not Chickens?
Didn't a Brit invent Vaseline too?
That's open to debate, wwaswas....
DrP
As midlifecrashes says, not all of ulster is in NI, and is not a county. NI is not part of Britain, hence " United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". And Monaghan is clearly in the Republic of Ireland anyway.

I am sure I read somewhere about an electric forklift that required a cable like that. If memory serves correctly there was some sort off accident involved
The tube map
That'll be where you're going wrong - Ulster is a county of Northern Ireland.
/Rises to bait
Ulster is a province of Ireland, six counties of which comprise Northern Ireland (Antrim, Armagh, Down, Derry or Londonderry, Fermanagh & Tyrone) and three of which are in the Republic of Ireland (Cavan, Donegal & Monaghan).
Can't really stand patriotism... however, I did feel what may possibly be a twinge of British pride at the end of the Thrust SSC documentary...
Didn't a Brit invent Vaseline too?
Wasn't it a Tory MP?
Cant really stand patriotism
Do you understand what patriotism is ? Or are you confusing it with something else ?
