Sorry for this being a bit dull but I have a problem causing me some grief. Having bought my expensive Mac, I can't believe how bad Pages 09 is, especially as Macs are targeted at students.

I did some googling last night, and watched a video of a guy on youtube, and I am now able to do numbered headings for Heading 1

i.e.

1. Introduction

2. Methodology

3. Results

4. Discussion

However, the problem comes when trying to do the same for headings 2.

i.e. when I do a numbered list it comes out as follows

1. Introduction

1.1 Overview
1.2 Previous reserch

2. Methodology

1.3 Questionnaire design
1.4 Interviews

3. Results

4. Discussion

Obviously I am looking for a way so that 1.3 and 1.4 come out as 2.1 and 2.2. I am writing a 30,000 word document, and I want to be able to move sections around, and have the numbering automatically update.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how to do this, if it is in fact possible?

many thanks

Simon

Just a cheeky bump for what I know is not the earth's most shatteringly interesting post but it is quite important to little me : )
