Ive been asked to convert a WMV file for my Dad - they want to play a small video in a business lobby and its been made in WMV.
THe idea was to play the file on loop in a DVD player and LCD TV.
Do most dvd players accept DIVX - my DVD does so i pressume best format will be DIVX.
Anyone recommend me some free mac software or an alternative idea.
Can't remember if it's free or not but we use one called "Visual Hub" Works well for lots of different formats 🙂
Media converter online and free? There is a file size limit though.

I would personally use either Handbrake ( http://handbrake.fr/) and then edit has required using iDVD etc and burn it from that or use the command line tool, ffmpeg.
ffmpeg is a bit more effort but you do get more control over what you are doing. (as it happens, Handbrake uses ffmpeg internally, anyway - it just makes it all a bit more 'Mac'...)

Handbrake is excellent.
