MacBook Pro 2012 with 8gb of Ram

Everything runs fast, but Safari has just started running slow, when switching between multiple tabs I now get 2 or 3 seconds of the spinning beachball??

Any ideas

Try opening Safari, then from the menus at the top:

Safari
Empty cache

I'm sure others will be along in a moment

Disk Utility, Repair Disk Permissions is probably the next step, if emptying cache and resetting Safari preferences above doesn't make any difference.

If you do online banking and have been encouraged to download Trusteer Rapport then try deleting it and see how Safari runs then - it caused very slow and crashy browsing for me.

As above clear cache (I am not a repair permissions advocate) and check to see what else you have running / downloaded (google docs link ?). How full is your hard disk, empty the trash ? 8gb ram is plenty but you could have a look at activity monitor and see what the memory graph looks like, should be green and all healthy.

Open up Activity Monitor and see what's running. A usual suspect is iCloud is syncing photos in the background. That that sucks bandwidth.
