I know i am. I've been to all the kids mid year parents evenings over the past few weeks. Really tough going by myself, Lyanda would normally make the extra effort to go too. Emotional, but pleased.

Won't go in depth into each of them, just to say i have had glowing feedback from all of their teachers. Every one of them has been really pleased with the kids efforts, kindness, helping of others and willingness to attend school. Other than their counselling sessions, they have all been in school every day this year so far. Realising that is a major milestone in itself. Little things like that make a big difference.

Great stuff!
Time for you to take some praise in what an amazing job you've done in such awful circumstances.
Big up the mini Gnusmasses.
Top work.

Take a minute to be proud of yourself here.. i've got two kids and know how hard it is to motivate them out of bed on a dark morning and get them to school.
The fact you've all pulled together and achieved this considering your circumstances is fantastic.

I'm sure your missus would be very proud, and rightly so.

Gnusmas, as a bystander of your situation. I have nothing but admiration for you. I know you have really struggled (as would we all) At times. But you should take a deep rooted pride in this feedback from your kids school. I can’t even begin to fathom how hard it must be, I simply couldn’t cope without my wife. The fact your kids are flourishing at school speaks volumes for your resolve and strength. You may not feel like it all the time, but you are an inspiration to fathers like me! Hell I complain and get in a flap when my teenage daughter decides I’m the ****er of the week. I have the upmost respect for you. You should be proud, not only of your kids but of yourself.

Keep it up and remember, when times are tough...god gave us bikes!

Spoke too soon 😔
Was up most of the night, G-3 was ill through the night and the others were complaining this morning of feeling rough too. So they are all home today lol. And now they are arguing and kicking off, so normality has resumed.

Thanks for the comments, really appreciate them. Just really wanted to let you all know that they are doing OK, despite everything. Guess I can put the tazer back in the cupboard for now.

Our kids are a reflection of us and the effort we put in. It sounds like yours have good values, which reflects well on you and Lyanda. Take a moment to smile and be proud👍

What danstw13 said. That fantastic outcome is in no small way a reflection of how well you've parented those kids in an awful situation.

I was genuinely please to read that Gnusmas.

Well done you and them. With all that's happened that really is an outstanding achievement.

Hope the bug passes soon. There's some full on coughs doing the rounds round here.

Thanks again all. All I can do is try and do the best I can. I fail, I manage, I succeed. Plodding on one day at a time.

Plodding on one day at a time.

That's all any of us can do 🙂 Great to hear things are going okay, all things excepted.

I have also lost very much loved family members; it needn't be what breaks us, but what makes us stronger.

You're doing a great job 🙂

gnusmas

...I fail have occasional and completely understandable bouts of severe self-doubt, I manage, I succeed. Plodding on one day at a time.

Having followed your story all this time, I think it's clear to everyone that you haven't failed in any way, shape or form. The teachers' views on your kids are evidence of how well you've coped. If I ever find myself in a situation similar to yours, I only hope I can muster even half as much strength as you've shown.

Also, you should print or copy out the words of your first post up there and keep it in your wallet. Whenever you feel a little low, take it out and have a read to remind yourself that things will get easier, in time.
